Checking in.

A friend who sat last July received the testing site e-mail on June 3rd, at 2:52 PM. Subject line of the email was "July 2015 NYS Bar Examination Seating Location Choice". Quoting the relevant portion below. Gonna figure out how to set an alert for that. I can't get Manhattan, but I do not want to drive 6 hours to Buffalo.

Also, when we do get stuck up in Buffalo, party bus back?

This email contains important information regarding your seat location for the July 2015 New York bar examination. Please read this ENTIRE email before clicking on the below link to confirm your assigned testing location. Your response is required no later than 9:00 AM, Eastern, on Monday, June 8, 2015.

The notification in the below link is intended to show you the city where you will be assigned to take the bar examination provided that you meet all of the educational requirements necessary to qualify to sit for the bar examination.

If you are a resident of New York State your location in the below link is pre-assigned based on the city located closest to your New York residence address. However, if you wish to change your pre-assigned location and seats remain available in other locations, you will be given an opportunity in the below link to change your assigned location on a "first come – first serve" basis. You must either confirm the pre-assigned location or switch to one of the available locations listed in the email.

If NO LOCATION is indicated or the location is listed as “unassigned”, you must select from one of the available locations in the email link. Only locations with available seats will be listed. Once a location is full, you will be required to take the examination at one of the other locations with available seats. You must select your location based on the locations that are available at the time that you click on the below link. As locations fill up they will disappear from the list on the link. Therefore, we recommend that you do not delay in making your selection. There will NOT be a "waiting list" for any location, so please do not call the Board office.

If you do not confirm a location by the June 8, 2015 deadline, the Board will automatically assign you to a location with available seating.

Anyone know if all of these testing centers have access to power outlets for our laptops?

I can verify that the two locations in Albany have power (power strips at each table) for laptops.

For those doing Barbri, are you doing the MPT and essay writing stuff? It seems like it is just teaching how to write essays (aka a waste of time) and not teaching any substantive law.

I would rather spend time outlining answers to check if I've memorized the law.

To be honest I feel kind of lost. Like i just watch the videos and fill out the outline abut so far it hasn't asked me to do anything else except the essay stuff, which I'm going to skip. What else should I be doing?

This extra AMP stuff?

I found the essay workshop helpful actually. Sure, I didn't learn any substantive law but I learned essay structure. There has not been any MPT stuff yet. I don't recommend you skip the essay workshop to the above poster but it's up to you I guess. FWIW I am graduating on Tuesday and given access to the Torts 1 lecture. It was helpful af.

In your estimation, what was the biggest reason for you failing on the first go around?

As luck would have it, the day after I registered my laptop for the exam it started crashing, etc. Does anyone know what the deadline would be to register a different computer to take the exam and download the exam software onto it (assuming I can do that)? It looked like maybe up until the day before the exam this could be done if the appropriate $50 was paid, but I'm not exactly sure.

49% here.

49 percentile or that you got 49% right (MBE only)? what's a good percentage?

I am! I've used Seperac when I took NY last year, and now for the UBE in a different state. I can't say enough great things about Seperac. He uses a wide ranges of factors to arrange MEE subtopics into high, medium, and low likelihood of appearing on the bar exam. He has been doing this for years and has correctly predicted many of the New York essay topics from year to year. I assume he'll be just as accurate for the MEE. These high/medium/low guide also include the wording that you should use for your rule statements, and they're in full paragraph form.

He also has a huge document of MBE rules broken down by subtopic (ex: Con Law-Individual Rights). Much of his info, including the high/medium/low is also available in audio form. I'm also using Adaptibar to discover which subtopics I'm weak in, and then using Seperac's MBE rule sheet to review the rules for those weak areas.

Seperac also has tons of other info throughout the subscription website, such as excel sheets where you can track your progress on practice questions over the summer and a breakdown of how much time you should spend on each area (MBE, MPT, MEE).

Let me know if you have any questions, either on here or PM!

I am wondering the same thing! I'm not absorbing as much just reading through the CMRs as I am doing AMP, but I can't tell if I'm skipping around the plan or not by doing AMP. I'm really confused on how to factor in this material, if it's supplemental or otherwise.

Checking in - Themis study

Is there a way to see online if BOLE received our handwriting sample, or do I have to call them?

I got this email after I sent both the handwriting sample and the cert from law school:
BOLE ID: Numbers

CANDIDATE: Mlk&Ckies

All required documentation has been reviewed and approved. You are now eligible to sit for the July 2016 bar examination. Approximately two weeks before the examination, you will be sent an email where you will be able to view and print your seat ticket. A copy of your seat ticket is necessary to gain entrance into the examination room.

Thanks! My school is taking care of the certification. Apparently they have not sent it in yet....
