There isn't a Barbri lecture handout for family law, is there? I don't see anything in the book.
EDIT: To answer my own question - there is a message in the message center stating that there is no handout.

There is one, you just have to take your own notes. The lecture is...out there. As in, refers to spanking and curtains not matching drapes.Betharl wrote:There isn't a Barbri lecture handout for family law, is there? I don't see anything in the book.

There's no handout for personal property either, is there? Didn't get a message saying we didn't have a handout and I don't see it in the book but I might be totally overlooking.

Dunno about the book. I use the electronic PDFs, and there is one available for personal property (click on the icon in the bottom right corner of the lecture screen).rmhco wrote:There's no handout for personal property either, is there? Is anyone else finding the answer explanations to Con Law Set 5 to be really confusing and convoluted? They seem to contradict themselves and the answer choices, at least occasionally. Or maybe I'm just further behind than I thought

Yes—the Contract Clause questions threw me for a loop. Was expecting to score higher than on earlier sets, given the duration of studying and all, but was unpleasantly surprised by the result.rmhco wrote:Is anyone else finding the answer explanations to Con Law Set 5 to be really confusing and convoluted? I think you're right. My processor said she had everything she needed from me about three weeks ago, but I couldn't remember when she said the assignments go out. I also need to update my picture but wondering if it's too latedntota wrote:I have not. they say 2 weeks before so hoping I'm not the only one.Nebby wrote:Anyone got their seat assignment yet?

It has pretty much been radio silence from me ever since I downloaded and submitted my practice exam. I haven't missed anything, have I?

I don't think so! I got anxious today as well and submitted a question to my processor through the website just making sure I hadn't missed anything--she responded promptly and told me that everything was in order for me to take the test, and that even if something happens with my character & fitness application, that won't prevent me from sitting.mu13ski wrote:Nebby wrote:Anyone got their seat assignment yet?

So - I think you're fine, but you can email your processor and check!

Re: July 2016 Illinois Bar Exam
Hi! I'm self-studying for just the written portion with Barbri materials from Feb 2016 and Themis from July 2015. I saw that IL amended their fault/no-fault divorce laws as of 1/1/16. What is the date cut-off for the law that the July 2016 exam applies? Do the July 2016 bar materials show that IL now only has no fault divorce?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! Another question if anyone has a sec: are custody and visitation now referred to as "allocation of parental responsibilities"/"significant decision-making responsibility" and "parenting time"? Or is it still ok to say custody or visitation? Sorry for all the substantive questions...

Re: July 2016 Illinois Bar Exam
Has anyone been able to make sense of admin? The BarBri materials are really confusing, particularly with respect to scopes of review. Half the time it's unclear what's federal and what's Illinois-specific, and it seems like the lecture notes (which divided scopes of review by the type of decision) contradict what's in the CMR for both the ARL and federal law.
Has anyone been able to make sense of this? Should I just ignore it and move on? My understanding is that admin hasn't been tested in a really long time.

Ignore. IL and Federal admin are very similar. If the IEE has a question, just answer it using federal principles. I hope admin is a topic, it's my ish.justtrying wrote:Has anyone been able to make sense of admin? The BarBri materials are really confusing, particularly with respect to scopes of review. I don't have advice but definitely have the same issue! I watched the lecture twice and read all the outlines and re-did an outline and still feel like I'd be up the river according to BarBri ... and I also took several admin classes in law school. Seems like ignore/use fed materials/advice makes sense, especially since it looks like it's REALLY infrequently tested.justtrying wrote:Has anyone been able to make sense of admin? Re: July 2016 Illinois Bar Exam
Has anyone heard of any advice on what to do if you're not meeting the Barbri goals for the MPQ sets?
I always meet or exceed on Set 1-3, but then Sets 4+ are a disaster (7-10/18 across all subjects). I've generally heard that Barbri is tougher than the real MBE, but can I account for that in my score?
A rather unreliable source (though they did pass) tole me that as long as you're getting over 50% on the Barbri sets, you'll be fine on the real MBE. Anyone have more definite (and credible) advice so I can stop #freakingout?

I think that if you're getting 10 on sets 4-6 you're probably close enough that you don't need to freak out. Keep doing extra question sets -- I usually JUST hit the targets (today I missed Civ Pro by oneHoosierHoosier wrote:Has anyone heard of any advice on what to do if you're not meeting the Barbri goals for the MPQ sets?
