Yes, and take them at the same time so you only have to take the MBE once. It will make you more marketable. For example, especially, Trenton is only 25 mins from my firm, and we also have an office over in Jersey. I know Barbri and Kaplan offer a combined course. Themis might too.BlueLotus wrote:Did anyone of you Philly folks take NJ as well? My C&F attorney recommends it if I want to practice in the metro-Philadelphia area.

Well, I passed.
Anyone know how long it takes to get the certificate recommending us for admittance? Will any judge swear you in? You would think they would post this stuff on the website.

I read on the website that they mailed them out on Friday, so we just have to wait for USPS to deliver. I would assume they would include that info in the packet? There's a purely ceremonial swearing in in King of Prussia in about a month.FilliesPhlyers wrote:Well, I passed.

I got mine Saturday. Any judge or notary in the commonwealth can help you complete the oath, it's just signing the oath and having it notarized. The prothonotary of the supreme court will be the "moving attorney" if you don't have one otherwise. You fill the form and mail it back in with a $50 payment (admission alone) or a $100 payment (admission+wall certificate). After the supreme court receives and processes, you get your license info mailed to you with attorney packet.

What is up with the PT scores? I've talked to several people in the single digits. I got a 10. I took Kaplan and all of my PT's were between 18 and 25.
My average essay was 11.66, which was apparently average. With Kaplan, my range was 12 to 18 with an average of 15.
I knocked the MBE out of the park, I think. I was almost 25 points above the PA mean.

22.5 PT
Essays: 11, 18, 19, 14, 17, 17. Average of 16.
I think a lot of it is just where you spent the most time practicing. I spent a lot of time on Essays in practice, none on the MBE after the Kaplan midterm. Plus, no matter how hard it tries no prep can compare to bar conditions.
The only score that matters, though, is that bottom one, and then the only thing that matters is whether it's over 272 or not.
Congrats on passing!

Re: PA Bar Wait Group
Would any of 'Yinz who passed the PA Bar be interested in selling your PA specific bar prep materials? I'm taking the exam in February. I already took the bar in another state, so I do not need multistate materials. BarBri, Kaplan, Themis - it doesn't matter - I just need something to study PA specific law. Thanks.

What did c&f request from you? I haven't heard from the pa bar at all except for that annoying email asking about address updates.123lipstick wrote:Character and fitness has been requesting things. I hope that's a good sign *crossing fingers*

C&F called me recently, and I had the same thought. Like does that mean I passed?? Lol123lipstick wrote:Proof of paying a parking ticketlawgrl21 wrote:What did c&f request from you? What did they specifically ask you if they had? All of your documentation related to applying to the bar or regarding c & f issues?Ibis305 wrote:They called me a few days ago to double check that they had everything, and I had the same thought. Unless they call everyone...which seems like a waste of their time.

I got a message through the website on Friday asking me to fax a copy of my law school app to show that I'd disclosed a misdemeanor ticket when I applied. I had the same thought as y'all that this might indicate I've passed, since the website says they don't complete the final c&f investigation until an applicant has successfully passed the exam. I suspect we won't know for sure for another 2.5 weeks though.

Haven't been on this forum in years. Checking in because I am also waiting for PA (and NJ). Glad to hear others are hearing from the C&F committee, as well. They've requested additional docs from me. I've been working with Tracy.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you receive the parking ticket? I received a ticket two weeks ago but haven't heard anything form the C&F board?123lipstick wrote:Proof of paying a parking ticketlawgrl21 wrote:What did c&f request from you? Experiencing serious paranoia as we near the results release date... so I figured I'd see how people were feeling.
I took Barbri but don't think it's very effective for people who are working throughout most of their prep. I worked up until the last 3 weeks... and felt this constant guilt to complete the 10000 assignments you could never keep up with despite them not always helping me remember things. Once I was about 3 weeks out I said the hell with it, started memorizing like crazy and taking practice tests / reading sample essay answers. I WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE THIS FROM THE BEGINNING. This is how I learn. Memorize the law. I digress...
When I took the test, felt the essays were not too bad. Did I write perfect ones? Likely not, but my arguments felt strong and even if I was running out of time, I managed to get enough of my thoughts on paper. Even the PT. I didn't think that was too bad. However - the MBE - I felt awful. I can't honestly say that I felt good about half of those questions. I was 100% guessing on a lot of them (between 2 "good" answers). But I struggled with MBE questions throughout my prep.... I took hundreds of the barbri ones, never did better than 60%. So if I fail, I know it's because of that day.
I can't help but feel like with working while studying I don't "deserve" to pass or that the "odds are against me" given I didn't dedicate all hours of every day for 2 months. That said, I am praying to anything that could be prayed to that I got by through the skin of my teeth. Note - I was a 4 year part time evening student who worked throughout law school.
Anyway, I feel awful about this test and am hoping that maybe I actually was as prepared as anyone and did just fine. I can't help but worry though.
Anyone else feeling like this? Good luck to all.

As far as I understand, the Board will sent out an email the Monday before results are posted...is that what people have been hearing?

That was my assumption from reading this thread, but I hadn't heard that before. I was waiting for the change to the website two days before when they take down the old results. Anyone heard about the email from an authority?

I feel way too similar to you, man. Felt good about the essays in general (one or two I was pretty unsure about, but the rest I think I did very well). But the MBE? Absolute killer. Anyway we'll see.VSCPGH wrote:Experiencing serious paranoia as we near the results release date... so I figured I'd see how people were feeling.

Oh and about the C+F thing, I haven't heard anything from them. I got a letter back in like June requesting a few documents though (proof I'd settled some lawsuit I was involved in a while ago, and something else) and took care of it a while ago. Not sure if they just got to me way before you guys or if it means anything that they contacted you now.

So are we pretty sure results will be released October 16th at 4:00 PM? I want to make sure I can leave work early as I really don't want to be around when I find out!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
