Re: MPRE
Took the MPRE last Nov. Studied for 3-4 days. I read the Orange Book from BarBri front and back once. Felt really anxious going into the exam. Felt worse coming out. Partially because my practice exam scores were in and out of 85 (MA requires 85 to sit for the bar). Even worse I had to take at a remote location and did not have a car. I vomited when I came out so you get what I mean from "worse" coming out.
I didn't even bother waiting for the result. and waited to sign up for another try. a few weeks later found out that I got 118. I personally think (and I know many others may have different opinions) mapping your score for the MPRE is difficult, partially because people don't study as much for the MPRE as they do for the bar or any other exams. So I think many people (at least those I know) felt like shit coming out but did fine. Later, they can easily say that the MPRE was so easy that they studied for less than a week and still passed. For me, that was not the case, I thought it was convoluted and didn't feel at all confident. So I think the best advice is to prepare despite what others tell you (you will hear that it's easy more so than that it's hard). One friend I know got 125 after 2 days of studying, but there are those who get the rules easy. Unfortunately, I was not one of them.
So good luck on your MPRE and I hope you excel in it.

Re: MPRE
Just took the November MPRE. Thought it was pretty straightforward. I used Themis and read the entire outline, watched the lectures and did about 250 practice questions. Seemed a bit like overkill, but definitely don't want to take it again!!!! Hoping I passed!

Re: MPRE
Totally normal to feel that way. I walked out of the August MPRE convinced I'd failed. To the point where I got the email in September about the results and thought "here's where I find out how badly I did," and obviously ended up passing.abogadoUF wrote:Honestly, on half of the questions I could only narrow down the answer choices to two. I feel like shit. How many right do I need for 80?
I think why people say anyone can pass the MPRE is because we get away with "studying" the day before, walk out thinking "whoops, should've studied more," and then finding out we passed a month later. I'm sure you're fine.

Re: MPRE
I haven't read through, and it's well after the Nov. MPRE, so this is likely neither on topic or useful until the next MPRE cycle.
I took it in August right after the July Bar (around 9 days time between). All I did was watch the themis and Barbri videos several times each(I know Barbri's MPRE is free, and I don't know if my Themis was actually free or if I got it because that's the Bar program I paid for) and then I did the themis sample questions (their explanations were really useful).
I'd say that the Barbri video is better. The guy is pretty funny and engaging as far as that sort of thing goes. The Themis questions are definitely worth using though.

Stupid question
Hey guys stupid question:
Where are the scores posted? I looked at the NCBE and the LSAC account.
I feel like I am overlooking something.

Never Mind:
It is in the 'file cabinet' portion of the NCBE website.

Thanks. I wouldn't have easily been able to find it without your post.
Thankfully passed.

Re: MPRE
Just as an update, I passed with a 102. As you can see from my post above, I did the entire Themis course. Probably should have done better, but just needed an 85 (NY), so I'm happy. The Themis prof is pretty weird ("wife in the wood chipper" comes up a bit too often...), but as long as you watch the vids and do the practice questions, you'll be fine.Canada99 wrote:Just took the November MPRE. Re: MPRE
Got a 119, despite only studying for three hours and feeling like I failed walking out. The test is too easy.

Re: MPRE
I don't think the exam is easy. It is more unpredictable than Bar Exam.
Once you put enough efforts on bar exams, most people would be fine. But for MPRE, who knows.
I got 126 in MPRE, but I felt like a shit when I walked out.

Ask one of your schools barbri reps for a copy. They usually have a ton just lying around on campus.LAWYER2 wrote:Bump . . . I'll be taking the MPRE March 28th. I signed up for the free Barbri course. I opted out of having the physical book, but I should have gotten it because I hate reading on computer screens.
Anyone else taking it this month?

Re: MPRE
I either went to the barbri review class or watched the video (I honestly don't remember, I took it 2.5 years ago) whenever it was scheduled. Watched the review video again the weekend before. And I think I started doing some practice questions Thursday night and pretty much all day Friday rolling through the questions in the Barbri book.
Passed by a ridiculous margin. I'm a great test taker though (again, not a humble brag, multiple choice is just my jam ... ). AND I was stressed about failing it and having to re-take in the meantime. (Whereas, I put the work in like crazy for the bar and then was not actually worried about passing, beyond the usual Chicken Little sky-is-falling if-I-fail-my-life-is-over kind of fear.)
If you're in a 2-day bar exam state and the MPRE is Saturday, I would chill most of Thursday, maybe watch the video that day. Do practice questions Friday. With bar prep on ethics already you'll be fine.

Re: MPRE
^^Good info
I watched the Video and completed the worksheet while a work over the course of a few days, finally completing it this Monday. I've been doing practice questions thus far and I seem to be getting a lot wrong, but I'm not overly worried. The plan is to complete all practice questions (180) and re-watch the video this Friday before the test.

^ This.JenDarby wrote:Always pick the second most ethical option. That strategy landed me a 120. I studied at work the two days before by doing the practice exams on Kaplan, one on Barbri and reading the mini review on barbri.
I did this on any question I didn't know or was stuck in the "it could be these two" place. Passed just fine. Spent maybe 5 hours the day before watching the videos and doing practice questions. Good luck to everyone taking the March MPRE!
