you should get an e-mail stating that they have reviewed your proofs were received and approved and that you are eligible to sit for the July 2014 bar exam.

at least I think that means they got them
Has anyone received their confirmation email yet? How long did it take to receive the email from the time your school mailed out the stuff? I am getting a little paranoid here.
Similarly paranoid. Dropped my stuff off at school around May 12, no word yet from NY.

Some schools send it out later than others, but they do this every year and they obviously have a great incentive not to **** it up, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

I received an email this morning. There is more discussion about it here:

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I submitted that online application in the morning of the first day it was available.

I'm assuming you're an in-state resident? None of my out-of-state friends have received the email yet.

Got Javits Center. Just switched into Buffalo. Thank the lord.

Also, as far as I have heard, all in-state people have gotten their assignments but no out-of-state ones have yet.

Out-of-stater here. I got the email four minutes ago. As of then, there was still space for laptop users in NYC, Saratoga, Albany, and Buffalo.

I just got my (out of state) email, but I can't get on the website. Anyone else unable to get on to nybarapply.org?

Kept re-directing me to the homepage for the longest time but I kept refreshing for like 20 minutes.

Ah boooo! It kept redirecting me to the homepage for like 15 minutes and then I could only get Albany/Saratoga/Buffalo. Np though. I'm in the city now and it's only a 2 hour train ride up to albany.

My gf hasn't gotten confirmation that her materials are all in yet (I have) and she still got her assignment email. So I wouldn't worry too much about that. Also, I think some law schools send them out in batches, so unless you mailed it yourself, for all you know your school might have been sitting on it for another whole week or two after you gave it to them.

I'll be there too! I was originally located in Albany but switched to Buffalo.

PSA: Don't forget to book your hotel room ASAP. Expect to pay a high premium (3-4x price) for a room within walking distance of the center.

It should definitely not be that high, so if it is, that's a huge ripoff.

The reason for that was because all of the regular rooms were sold out. Only executive rooms were left. I just checked Expedia and there is only one executive room left at one hotel within walking distance of the test center. The hotel rooms went very fast.

There are still plenty of affordable rooms 2.5-10 miles away (~$60). If you have a car these places shouldn't be a problem (I have a car).

How many days are people staying? Is traveling Monday too risky? Is it possible to get home Wednesday night? Curious as to what others are thinking.

I made a 3 day reservation for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night. I have a 2.5 hour drive to Buffalo. That shouldn't be a big deal. The real question was whether to reserve a room for Wednesday. I'll be driving back home and won't need it for the night. However, because the exam is proctored on Wednesday, I would like to have the room for relaxation between testing periods. The checkout time is too early to use the room on Wednesday without renting it.

That's the reason why I rented the room for three nights. I won't use it for Wednesday night but it is worth spending the extra money to have a place to chill for an hour between testing periods and eat lunch. I've already spent $200k on my education. I think I can spring an extra $55 for the added convenience of having a place to relax.

Last year I stayed four nights, Sunday through Wednesday. But I was flying in, and didn't want to risk a flight cancelation on Monday.

I'm staying Monday - Wed night. Leaving Thursday morning. I'm driving up from NYC, though.

Party on Wednesday night?! Only rule: we can't talk about the test. AT ALL

My flight is monday morning at 9am, as I want to spend as little time in the city as possible. I figured that unless the airports completely shut down, I should have plenty of opportunities to get on other flights/other airports should my flight get cancelled.

I'm also flying in on Monday, early in the day so I can figure out another way just in case. Does anyone have thoughts about making a late Wednesday night flight? I'd really rather not stay an extra day. I won't check a bag and the airport seems pretty close to downtown, I'm taking it in Buffalo if that matters

For fellow Albany people with cars: I will pay you cash money to drive me from my hotel (by the airport) to the exam both mornings (and back...and amtrak after). PM me.

FYI I am from Buffalo and will be happy to give a lowdown on where to eat/drink/not fall in a ditch and die. I won't be staying Wednesday night because I want to get the fuck away from law students ASAP, but there are lots of fun bars nearby.

I didn't even know Javits was an option for people out-of-state until I heard about others getting it if they responded almost immediately. Kinda bummed since I'm paying way more than I should for two nights at a hotel in Albany when I could have stayed in New York for free.

Oh, and the whole driving six and a half hours from where I live in DC blows too. I'm taking NJ as my plan B bar, so I have to be able to get there, hence driving. And rent a car since I don't have one. And apparently NJ doesn't say where the testing site is until after July 1, which seems kinda crazy, but at least I can just drive back without paying for another hotel?

I'm taking Kaplan. After listening to Fromm for day after day of MBE foundation lectures, I was both happy and deflated at the same time to see he does the NY distinctions lectures for every single MBE subject. At least he doesn't talk about his grandma in the distinctions videos.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
