Some hotels have rooms blocked off for people taking the bar at a steep discount. Mine was like 85 a night for 300 rooms.Biglaw_Associate_V20 wrote:dat themis es muy buenoLasers wrote:hi guise.
i'm still looking for a prep course and am now leaning towards themis...good idea?
and fuck the century city hotel is expensive...it's probably decently nice, sure, but expensive.

It took me less than ~2 weeks from the time of registering to the time I found out. If you still see SD as an option, my guess is you will probably be able to get it.Jessuf wrote:I forgot to register in time, so I guess I'm late-registering. How hard will it be for me to get the San Diego location? It says residents only, which I qualify for, but I don't know what the max # of ppl allowed was. Does anyone know how long it takes for you find out which location you get?

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
i ended up signing up for themis ($1400ish) and then buying last year's barbri books for under $400. i'm confident using themis, but i wanted some of the barbri stuff that i've heard people say were helpful, especially the cmr. still saved over $2k doing this rather than barbri (which was an absurd $4200ish).
If you got Themis, you don't need the CMR from Barbri, trust me on this. Ultimately what they want you to do is create your own "CMR" of about 1-2 page review sheets as you finish each subject. As daunting as it may sound, it was very helpful. It was another layer of review and made me feel very confident especially on the essay section. They also release Condensed MBE outlines during the course. I thought they did a great job on Criminal Law, Con Law, Torts, and Evidence; OK on Criminal Procedure and Contracts but the Property one definitely needed major work.

Also does anyone know how laptop use worse? Specifically, I don't have a battery in my laptop that will last a million hours. Is everyone guaranteed an outlet?

Because SD's testing is limited to its residents, an additional testing site will be provided if the original testing site becomes full.

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
I 100% don't want to deal with talking to my step dad who is an attorney and loves to constantly remind me how easy it is to get a job or how I should work for myself. There is no way I could go home and NOT talk about it. It's also like ~30-40 min away and I don't want to deal with rush hour traffic, parking, etc.Jessuf wrote:Can't you just stay at home or are you not taking it near you?ilovesf wrote:O this reminds me I should book my hotel. My somewhat good friend is getting married over July 4 weekend. I would have to make a trip to NY & VT to go to it. How feasible is this with timing & bar study schedules? Would I be crazy for considering going that soon before the bar?

I would do it, though I probably wouldn't want to take any major trips later than that. Would it just be for a long weekend? Does the hotel have wifi? Do you think you'd be able to do any prep while there (maybe early morning before festivities)?ilovesf wrote:My somewhat good friend is getting married over July 4 weekend. Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
Tough call, but I think you would be alright since that is a solid 3 weeks before the bar. And hopefully you could study on the plane. I find i'm actually quite productive on planes, as I have no internet or TLS to distract me, plus I might as well study since it's not a comfortable experience anyways. How good of a friend are we talking?Lwoods wrote:I would do it, though I probably wouldn't want to take any major trips later than that. Would it just be for a long weekend? Does the hotel have wifi? Anyone starting CA bar prep early? I started a few weeks ago because I have to take 2 or more weeks off in late June for medical reasons. Now I am on a break because of law school finals.

I am doing Themis, the material has been online since March. Not sure about the other programs although I can't imagine why not if it is just pre-recorded videos.patogordo wrote:do we even have access to the materials yet?
