Also, we can keep the book of our lecture notes, correct? I'm finally getting around to this but I can't find the sheet that came in the box originally that talked about how to send them back.
Postdated by 9/4! Just checked that this morning. And yes, the Lecture book is yours to keep :D
Whew! Thanks!

I thought about the bar exam today. Does this mean I'm not drinking enough?

Probably.

I'm really enjoying this whole not doing anything phase of my life. I wish my state's results didn't come out so soon; we find out in 11 days.

Whoa. I was always so mad my state takes forever but I'm kinda glad I'm not finding out in 11 days now that I think about it.

Except it's going to be just as bad when we're 11 days away and yet we waited 2-3 months for the moment... :|

Yeah it's a weird feeling. If I do have to retake, it's not like I'm going to start studying until November or so anyway. But of course I want to find out and move on with my life; just not quite yet.

West Virginia's unofficial results are out, and I went through the list, and it appears the unofficial pass rate there is either 69% or 72% this time. (I don't know which, because in one spot it says there were 177 takers, in another it says 183, but 55 people failed.)

I don't know what the recent pass rates there have been, but looking at old percentages, this makes it seem like the difficulty/pass rate of this exam will fall in between what it was last summer and it what it was before the nationwide score decrease.

Makes me feel a little better.

I just looked at it. Although the list is in chronological order, some numbers are missing. Perhaps those missing numbers are from people who dropped out on exam day? 69% and 72% both seem low to me. I wish we knew the number of scaled points.

Ok, I lied. WV had a 74% pass rate last year. So, percentages are down there by 2-5%. Great.

I don't know what the deal is with numbers being dropped off. I assume it's either no shows, or maybe people were given an option to remove themselves from the list before it was posted?

West Virginia Bar passage rate dropped from 74% (137/186) last year to 69% (122/177) this year... Now I am concerned...

ETA: it was 71% (133/188) in 2013

So better than two years ago, but worse than last year. That's not too terrible. I'm using the 72% number for my own sanity.

I took the WV bar, and they do allow you to "opt out"'of having your results posted online. That being said, there were a few people who didn't show for the exam as well. Because they give you an anonymous applicant number, I don't know anyone who opted out. Anything is possible though. Hope that helps.

Interesting. Honestly, 5% is a smaller decrease than I was expecting. WV basically administers the UBE right?

I don't know anything about the UBE, but the breakdown in WV is 20% MPT, 30% essays, 50% MBE.

Anyone got their book deposit back? I mailed mine the day after the exam (Texas) and am still waiting.

I'm 99% sure that is the breakdown for the UBE as well.

So I sent mine media mail back on Aug 4 and then went road tripping. I read someone's post above about getting a confirmation email from Barbri when their books arrived, so I tracked the package only to find that it left Dallas bound for Novi, MI on Aug 5 but has not been scanned since. I called USPS about it and they started a case for it. We'll see what happens.

Unfortunately I was too cheap to insure it (would have been like $2), so the most I can get out of them is $50. If it's completely lost I'll try to convince Barbri to send me my deposit anyway (what else could I have possibly put in a 34 lb package to Novi MI?) but I'm not very hopeful. Between this and leaving my backpack with my laptop on the roof of the car during my bar road trip, August was an expensive month for unanticipated losses.

Damn. I think I'm in the same boat. I sent them back media mail the day after the exam...ready to get rid of them and didn't really think about it. I didn't even save a tracking number. Hoping barbri is just backlogged and they're still processing things. It did say up to 75 days.

Holy crap. I was in that same bracket for practice questions but I can guarantee I didn't put up a damn 171 on the real thing.
