Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
I got a 133 on sim mbe and a 76/100 on refresher. I got good at answering Barbri questions. I remember what it felt like when I took those exams and I am certain that I did much much worse on the real thing. On the Barbri sim / refresher / etc, I would be certain that I got about 40 % correct. Then on about 50 %, I had a 50-50 or 65-35 type call. On 10%, I was pretty clueless. On the real thing, I was certain of about 25-30 questions total. I'm not being dramatic...I predicted my sim score within 5 pts and I think I got a raw 110 on the real thing. I still think I passed because my essays were strong, but I was blindsided by the mbe questions. I guessed on about 30 questions in a row in the PM section...and I wanted to vomit.

You can print a shipping label on their website. Unsure if you have to pay for shipping.scaliaantics wrote:Wait seriously? In the name of saving the environment (in some small way) BarBri should allow you to send them a certificate of destruction instead of sending the books back. They're not going to reuse them anyway. If 5-8 people grouped together, the books would be a large enough quantity to meet the minimum at most document destruction companies.

I grew somewhat attached to those books. Might not be a bad reference if some clients decide to randomly ask me something about wills and trust.

I had the same thought actually. Might be a good quick reference for state specific subjects.kyle010723 wrote:I grew somewhat attached to those books. Might not be a bad reference if some clients decide to randomly ask me something about wills and trust.

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
You guys, am I f'ed if on the hardest session of the mbe I didn't even get to 20 questions on the last column. I literally picked a letter and filled the bubbles in..maybe a 25% chance there. For the second half I did the same for 10 questions. I do have that string of D's that people were talking about before, too.
My friends say they read every question. My friend who took it last year finished the session after 2 hours and passed.

You can miss a lot of MBE questions and still pass. If you don't pass you'll know to work on your timing for next round, but there's still a good chance you won't have to ever worry about that. In any case no reason to freak out now. The July 2015 bar exam can't hurt us any more.ReachTheBar79 wrote:You guys, am I f'ed if on the hardest session of the mbe I didn't even get to 20 questions on the last column. I don't think usps is an option (form says you must use fedex or ups). I just went to ups store and as soon as I walked in guy said "oh, Barbri..." He boxed everything up total cost for shipping plus box was $40.scaliaantics wrote:Wait seriously? I don't want to send mine back for fear that I will somehow jinx myself and fail the bar, thus necessitating keeping possession of the books.

You're not going to fail. And if you failed, are you sure you want those books. I might keep the books as a reference for some subjects that I never took in law school though.jaysnooginz wrote:I don't want to send mine back for fear that I will somehow jinx myself and fail the bar, thus necessitating keeping possession of the books.

The Barbri website says I can use USPS but they prefer FedEx or UPS. Maybe it's different for each state.Hutz_and_Goodman wrote:I don't think usps is an option (form says you must use fedex or ups). Yeah it says they prefer fedex or UPS but if you use USPS they just want you to get a tracking number. I just sent mine back and used media mail - under $17.
Also, for those worried if they fail - I asked this question and Barbri said you just pay the $250 deposit again + cost of shipping (ridic, I know) and then they send you brand new books. Then, you can send them back again at the end of the course and get the deposit back.

Thanks for talking to Barbri about the books thing. Do you know if you if the $250 + shipping is contingent on actually paying for the course again? Hopefully not, but just curious if you knew. Thanks a lot!HLBE689 wrote:Yeah it says they prefer fedex or UPS but if you use USPS they just want you to get a tracking number. I just sent mine back and used media mail - under $17.
