Agreed!
Don't panic everyone! Also seat tix won't be until 2 weeks before the exam, so not now but mid-july!

I got an email titled "NYS Bar Exam Proofs Received and Approved" once the school certification & handwriting sample was recieved, saying I was approved to sit for July 2017. Can anyone confirm if they got any further emails or is that it?
I got mine two weeks back and it only stated they received transcripts and a separate email saying i was approved for all and ready to sit the exam. No mention of the handwriting sample but the school administrator reassured me all is good and no need for them to mentione every single document they received. Hope this helps.
Anyone else panicking about location assignments and seating tickets like I am :s ??
Don't panic- seat tix are sent separately than location assignments- tix are 2 wks before the exam (like mid July)

Here here!
On a separate note, does anyone have a promo code for AdaptiBar? I'm curious and would like to take their full 7-subject MBE course (in-addition to my existing course.)
$395 is a bit steep

, I would like to check it out but not at this price point.

Anyone have feedback on Critical Pass cards? /if so, promo code? I looked over a friends and they looked good but didn't compare them to my barbri/own outlines...
Tried making my own- way too much time. But $150 is a lot for 300ish flashcards? Trying to find used ones online- only see them on ebay & never used it and don't feel like doing so now.

Using both Critical Flash and Adaptibar. Critical Pass - I bought it for my phone, and they are really concise and cover the essential information for the MBE. At the beginning I would refer back and never found an issue from an MBE question that wasn't somehow addressed. Also like that you can test yourself in the app (I'm not in the U.S. so I'd rather not pay for extra shipping/import fees).
Adaptibar, I just purchased for the questions since I have Critical Pass, and Seperac J17. Having these, I don't see the point for extra flashcards and their lectures. As a visual/kinesthetic learner, lectures are not effective for me. The great points are the questions themselves, and their algorithm that learns your strengths and weaknesses, as well as timing and suggestions for test day. If you have a bar review course, then I would use it for the questions not really for the extra lectures.

What kind of tickets are these? Are they the sort in email form that you have to print out?

How are you using Seperac? I have Critical Pass and Seperac too, and vacillate between them

Sorry if this has been asked: Does anyone know the character limit for the NY UBE essays? I can't seem to find them online.
And, if anyone could direct me to a good frequency analysis chart of past essay topics, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks and good luck to all!

There should not be a character limit. The short amount of time on the essays will obviously shorten your character count. You should only be spending 30 mins per each (6) essays. No character limit though.

For reference, some states do in fact have character limits for the MEE. NY is not one of those states though.

Before the Master was released, I used these to get familiar with the MBE subjects and quiz myself. Now I'm practicing referring back to the Master, which together with the spreadsheet is helping to reinforce the information. I still look at the cards when I'm on move and force myself to recall everything I know on a particular card.

Could someone answer a remedial Q for someone who has never taken crim pro?
Barbri lecture guy talked about an instance where Mr. X, who has a criminal history, is walking with his girlfriend Y, when he sees a cop in the distance who has arrested him for possessing drugs in the past. Mr. X then proceeds to put all his drugs in Y's purse, cop searches purse, finds drugs. X objects to the search under 4th amendment grounds, but Court says he doesn't have standing because he doesn't have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
HERE'S WHAT I DON'T GET: the lecture guy THEN said that Mr. X was stupid because he should've brought a bag to put the drugs in, because then he'd have a good claim and would have standing. How does that work? Doesn't the cop have probable cause? And even so, even without the bag, if he hadn't transferred the drugs, they'd be on his person, and isn't that one of the protected categories? So why the comment about the bag at all?
TIA! (And apologize if this is obvious)

He'd also have standing if he got frisked and the drugs were found on his person.

Yeah. The fact pattern is odd, and the way I made sense of the purse element is basically the drugs were too big to fit on his person (thus why the lecturer was talking about how he would have needed his own fanny pack or whatever).

Anyone else having particular trouble with the Real Property topic? I'm using Themis. Other topics so far (contracts, secured transactions, family law) have been ok, but real property rules & concepts seem totally hard to grasp. The Rule Against Perpetuities questions seem very poorly worded, and the rules about when mortgages are extinguished are opaque. Is it just me? (Some of it seems to help if you have a background in finance.) Or Is Themis kind of weak with real property questions specifically?

I think the bag to bag comparison was just keeping it apples to apples (her bag vs his bag). His point seems to be that he had a reasonable expectation of privacy for the contents of his own bag, but not his girlfriend's bag. I wouldn't read into it any further than that (e.g what if they were on his person).

Because he doesn't have standing to contest whether they search Y's purse. Only if it were his bag. The facts are silent to whether she consented. PEOPLE WHO CONSENT ARE IDIOTS!!!!

I'm using barbri and haven't gotten to the questions yet, but I think the information is super difficult to study and break down into memorizeable elements/rules. Very different from the other subjects. I think during immersion they said that property was one of the hardest subjects on the MBE.
If anyone has advice on how to learn and break this down I think it would be much appreciated!

Yeah, it's not a Themis/Barbri thing. It's just an involved topic generally

I'm still waiting on three grades from my school (they were supposed to be due yesterday) and we're getting dangerously close to the June 15 certificate of attendance deadline.

I think you can ask the registrar for the "expedited service" thing they have. You pay a fee ($20-50) for it to be processed at a higher urgency at both the school and BOLE and sent via express mail. Ask if that's still possible.

I mean, it's NYU, they know when they need to get paperwork in for the NY bar. The issue here is getting professors to submit grades by the deadline. At this point, just throw the exams down a staircase and give us grades!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
