Sorry if this question has been asked before, but for out-of-staters, can we choose anywhere other than Albany or Buffalo?? I'd much rather take it in Saratoga Springs...

Yes. If other locations are available you can choose the available ones. It is usually the city locations that people fight for.

Awesome, thank you! The NYBOLE website made it sound like Albany or Buffalo were our only choices, so I panicked.

Yeah I think that's a misprint, Saratoga is listed as an option, the upstate locations are easier to get than nyc so you should be good to go with getting Saratoga, good luck!

Does anyone (esp. previous exam takers) know about the White Plains location?

I'm slated to get priority in one of the Manhattan locations but think it might be worth it to just drive up to White Plains. It'll take me roughly the same amount of time to get to all 3 locations with traffic.

The only thing I've heard about WP is- it was a handwrite only location for Feb. 2017. I wanted WP because it was closer than Albany for me and at the time I was driving up from out of state but it wasn't listed as an option for me to choose when the test site location email came out because I had registered as a laptop applicant.

Not sure if it'll be different for July but I would call BOLE and ask- that way you can have an idea for hotel locations if that applies.

Dumb question from a foreign candidate but is there moderation for MBE or MEE / MPT? I.e. do you have to actually score 67% to pass or will the scores be adjusted upwards if the sitter population does exceptionally bad as a cohort? 8)

The bar is a curved exam, no? So it will depend on how everyone else does I'm pretty sure?
edit: I don't think the MBE is tho
edit again: I really don't know and shouldn't have responded to this, sorry

For the UBE, you should shoot for 133 on each section at the very least. You need 266 (for NY) for the whole thing. Obviously more/less on each can balance to the 266. So if you get a 124 on the MBE, but still get a 142 on the written portion (MPT/MEE) you will pass. There is NOT a % that you are required to hit. The total amount of points you get needs to add to 266.

Any of those lovely seat selection emails come out to in-staters today?? I'm hoping not until tomorrow. I'm an out-of-stater and I'll be in court all tomorrow morning and will be screwed with Albany or Buffalo if y'all get yours today.

MBE is curved. Your raw score will be adjusted upward (I don't think it's possible to be adjusted negatively). Only 175 of the 200 questions are graded.

Tracking number says that my handwriting sample made it to Albany today and was delivered. Should I expect any type of confirmation from the NYBLE, or no?

I got an email titled "NYS Bar Exam Proofs Received and Approved" once the school certification & handwriting sample was recieved, saying I was approved to sit for July 2017. Can anyone confirm if they got any further emails or is that it?

Anyone get their location ticket yet? NYC has new location with Chelsea Piers, I wonder how they'll split it up. Also it's a bit late for accommodations right? thanks

Yes but it was an unrelated email encouraging early cancellation and giving a refund if the sitter is unable to attend the exam. It's titled "Automatic Credit of Examination Fee for Withdrawal by Friday, May 26 2017 at Noon". 8)

I got mine two weeks back and it only stated they received transcripts and a separate email saying i was approved for all and ready to sit the exam. No mention of the handwriting sample but the school administrator reassured me all is good and no need for them to mentione every single document they received. Hope this helps.

Anyone else panicking about location assignments and seating tickets like I am :s ??

Not panicking, just frustrated. It's already ridiculous it takes this long to get our locations (less than 2 months before the test), and for it to be delayed any more is insane.
