I was so pumped when I saw that you passed. So satisfying to see good people like yourself and others that we studied with, conquer this exam and move forward as lawyers! We are gonna kill it in the legal profession, just like we did with this exam

This helps make me feel better while I wait. And wait. And wait. Was scoring 127, 133, and 138 on full timed practice tests (out of 200) before the exam. I just need a 135 scaled to pass.DueProcessDoWheelies wrote:Looks like lots of states have released over the past few days

I like how someone called the MBE "a crap shoot."

THANK YOU for putting together and for everyone's input!
Congrats everyone! Hope ya'll are out celebrating. Also Happy Be Kind to Lawyers Day!! Have you hugged a lawyer yet?

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
So...I seem to be in the minority in that I passed Florida, but failed MBE portion and thus, failed the overall.
I may have misread, but are the stats that MBE scores rarely move? I am waiting for scores in the mail, as I'm sure most are, as well. But, I am trying to plan an alternate route. I took Barbri and it is available again for free because of the guarantee. I am devastated and know I can't feel this again.
I will plan to focus only on MBE and take only that in July.
Any tips, help, advice?

I was in that same situation in July. It sucks and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But, there is some silver-lining in the fact that you did get Florida out of the way. Doesn't sound like a big deal right now, but once you start studying and on exam day, you are going to be so relieved that all you have to worry about is the MBE. I'm not sure about whatever you read re: scores rarely moving. I dunno what my actual MBE score was yet, but my scores on the practice tests significantly rose my 2nd time.LawDawg2016 wrote:So...I seem to be in the minority in that I passed Florida, but failed MBE portion and thus, failed the overall.

I wrote a pretty long post in the Florida thread, so check it out. I'd suggest checking out Adaptibar this time around if you can afford it. It's absolutely worth the money and is hands down the best MBE study tool IMO. I'd shoot for doing every single question they released on top of mixing in some Barbri stuff since you get that for free. I thought Barbri was terrible for MBE prep overall, but I did find it useful to switch it up from Adaptibar every once in a while to simulate those WTF moments on the real MBE, when some questions don't make any sense. I'd also check out Jonathan Grossman's lectures. They were absolutely fantastic at teaching you the big picture for all of the subjects and were much more helpful than Barbri lectures IMO (despite being half as long).
Also, since you have some time, really try to reflect what went wrong this time before diving in without any direction. Was it not knowing the BLL that well? Was it analyzing the facts? Was it simply a timing issue? When I failed in July, it was partly because I was unable to finish the exam, so that was one thing I made sure I mastered by doing lots of half-day exams.

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Thank you for the response. I do feel like passing only Florida was the 2nd best outcome, if passing the entire thing wasn't going to happen. I am looking into Adaptibar right now. I guess I will have to wait for my scores to see what happened. I don't know. I felt like I knew the BLL. And I finished with time to spare. I think while reading the call, there were a lot of times where I was like...WHAT? LOL I feel like Barbri didn't cover everything and I was extremely disappointed as I followed the program. I hate to spend more money on Adaptibar, but it's costing me a lot to not be able to practice. Thanks again!!THE_U wrote:I was in that same situation in July. So in Florida if you pass the state portion but fail the MBE you don't have to retake the state portion?

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Are high bar scores considered marketable? Is it something worth putting on a cover letter/resume or bringing up in an interview?
Additionally, anyone know of a way to see where you ranked in Florida? If the answer to the above question is YES, then I assume your score is only marketable if it is over a certain threshold (top 1, top 5, top 10??)
Last year's highest scorer in Florida got a 175, my score was 169. Would love to know where this falls, if I can indeed use it when talking to firms.

Dear lord no.salsahips wrote:Are high bar scores considered marketable? Is it something worth putting on a cover letter/resume or bringing up in an interview?
Even last July's Texas high scorer (who's required to speak at the swearing in) knew his only claim to fame was being the guy who least understood marginal benefits.

The deadline to file for the July 2016 exam in NY (which has just adopted the UBE) is 4/30. A mid-May result means that NYers won't know how they did before the deadline. I suppose I could sign up for the exam, then cancel if I passed, but I'd rather not hand over my hard-earned cash if I don't have to.

Wow, good to know the deadline. I didn't realize it was so soon. February results for NY were released last year on April 28th.rntojd wrote:BVest wrote:What do UBE deadlines have to do with it (in their final non-UBE administration)?rntojd wrote:Congratulations to all who passed! Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Generally there's a special retake registration period, especially where results come out too late for standard registration. Unless you would prefer to take the UBE in a different state, I see zero reason to register for the exam before you get your Feb scores.rntojd wrote:BVest wrote:What do UBE deadlines have to do with it (in their final non-UBE administration)?rntojd wrote:Congratulations to all who passed! Yes, you need to include that high score on all resumes and make sure to include it in your cover letters as well. Try to work it into the first paragraph of the cover letter to make sure it gets read by the reader.salsahips wrote:Are high bar scores considered marketable? This score is likely marketable outside the state of Florida as well. Most states don't announce the highest passing score(s) because of the unfair competition they perceive this will give a select few of the applicants for so few jobs. Since Florida does announce this, you need to use it to your advantage.
Lol!
