Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
It was fairly cold this past summer. I wore jeans, long-sleeved t-shirt, and a fleece vest. I wore the vest at times and took it off at others with no obvious pattern (morning/afternoon). And I'm not normally a person to get cold.rhnevarez wrote:do any of you know if the exam site gets really cold??
BTW, the tables at the facility are brushed metal, so long sleeves are key.

Did the rule for the prosecution producing a police report as a part of discovery change awhile ago? Started at older criminal P&Es and working my way to the newer ones and seeing conflicting answers. I thought it was actually one of the first things they turn over, but #13 in Barbri's answers says its work product and D only gets it after the officer testifies.

Yes, at least to an extent. The Michael Morton Act (2013's SB 1611) requires disclosure of significantly more materials than in the past. I don't know the details though.mtyler19 wrote:Did the rule for the prosecution producing a police report as a part of discovery change awhile ago? Are y'all bringing your laptop in a big ziploc bag? I don't remember if it was something the bar examiners told us to do last time but I haven't seen anything about it this time.

Just a heads up folks. We are looking very, very likely to get rain tomorrow. Not sure if parking at Palmer is covered straight into the exam site, but for those biking/walking, be prepared.
Literally hasn't rained in months here... and right now Weather Channel has it at 100% tomorrow.

The walk from the garage to the auditorium is a covered open-air breezeway, so yes it's covered, but not completely sheltered. Keep in mind, if you get one of the last 1/4 to 1/3 of parking spaces, you'll be on the uncovered roof of the garage.RetakeFTW wrote: Not sure if parking at Palmer is covered straight into the exam site, but for those biking/walking, be prepared.
Here's a side view of both the garage and the breezeway. There's also another pedestrian exit to the garage at the end closest to the auditorium, but it has a similar breezeway, just a shorter walk in the breezeway:

I just drove through the place, is there two entrances to the parking lot? or just one?

Two. One north of the lot and one south. It's kinda a weird parking lot that isn't a standard garage. Feels more like "H"s on top of "H"s in its layout than the standard (which would be like "O"s on top of "O"s) ... if that makes any sense at all.rhnevarez wrote:The walk from the garage to the auditorium is a covered open-air breezeway, so yes it's covered, but not completely sheltered. @laptop users:
Run SofTest today and make sure it works and you can get to the take exam or whatever screen. You don't want to have a frantic moment of panic when it doesn't boot up or you can't log in and you're at the exam site.

There are two in that there is one at Palmer (entrance off Barton Springs) and one at the Long Center (entrance off Riverside), however, I don't know how early the Long Center entrance will be open.rhnevarez wrote: I just drove through the place, is there two entrances to the parking lot? or just one?
If you're asking because you thought you saw another entrance directly off Barton Springs but further east (at about the garage midpoint, then that's a service drive.
This pic shows the Palmer entrance at the west (but from the south side of the complex) and the Long Center entrance at the east (but from the north side of the complex). The Palmer entrance driveway hits Barton Springs Rd just west of that loop drive you see pictured in front.

Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
Were gum and pens prohibited items in July 2015?
I chewed gum and used a pen every day (then used a pencil to bubble in on the MBE). Did this change or was I just breaking the rules last time? The proctors walking around seemed fine with it...

Pens and highlighters were permitted before, so yes, that's a change. I don't know about gum. I feel like that might have been prohibited before.jamescastle wrote:Were gum and pens prohibited items in July 2015?

Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
If anybody is looking for some possible parking spots, the apartment complex I'm in has a few guest spots at the top of the parking garage. The address is 300 south lamar blvd, and the entrance to the garage is on Jessie street. If you park up there, use the stairs on the northwest corner, because you don't need a key fob to get out of that stairwell. There are also some metered spots on the streets near there as well. It's about a 10 minute walk to the events center from here.
Edit: note that the garage has a gate, so you'll have to wait for somebody to go in if you want in. Supposedly it's open at random times, but you never know.

Good luck to all, though you should have already started this morning.
So I guess I should say I hope today went well, and even if it didn't, remember that (a) it's only 20% of the score, (b) even the worst scores on the MPT are over 100.
One day down. Y'all got this.

Feeling pretty good after day 1...I had a little melt down last night.
Also, shoutout to that great Texas weather dropping 20 degrees during the exam.
Anybody have anything fun go on around them? Two dudes behind me didn't know it was assigned seating and just plunked themselves down. The proctors weren't happy.

Did anyone see the people who got up between the MPT and the P&E? I saw a guy who walked to the bathroom and kept fucking going after the announcer lady angrily told everyone to sit down. Zero fucks were given. That guy has balls of steel. No idea if he got kicked out.

That was awesome. The announcer lady was so pissed about it. Did you catch right before the last lady went to the bathroom she muttered something kind of under her breath like a "what is she doing??" but the mic caught it?DueProcessDoWheelies wrote:Did anyone see the people who got up between the MPT and the P&E?
