The only explanation I can come up with is that the fraud in the essay question was somewhat the person's fault who was defrauded for signing off on it accidentally, but that wasn't explained and it just calls it 'ordinary fraud.' So I guess 'ordinary fraud' is a personal defense, but 'fraud fraud' is a real defense. Just more confused now, but oh well, I think I'm overestimating the quality of essays and I assume most people would be as long as me on a commercial paper essay so it's about comparison.sd5289 wrote:Careful with that. Good work, Themis. If I knew the law better, I think I would realize how terrible Themis was.

Alright, see you all on the other side. Tonight's a night of Seamless, Xbox, and avoiding all things bar related (except for the actual bar) until it's over on Wednesday. Good luck everyone!

I'm in Saratoga - I'm a 10 minute walk to the test site. I forgot how balls hot it is this week...I hope people enjoy smelling me by the time I get there.

Fraud in Inducement, which is where the obligor knew they were executing a negotiable instrument just defrauded as to it is a Personal Defense.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Any Marylanders in here? I am re-reading the instructions on what can/cannot be in the exam room and it seems like laptop cases are not allowed??
From BLE Website: "Backpacks, brief cases, carry bags, and luggage of any description are prohibited at the examination site. This prohibition of extraneous materials is to heighten site security and simplify entry procedures. MEN'S WALLETS, WOMEN'S HANDBAGS AND PURSES AND LUNCH BAGS/ BOXES ARE PERMITTED."
From green paper we got in the mail: "ITEMS PROHIBITED AT/UNDER YOUR BAR EXAM TESTING TABLE: Bar review materials, texts, law books or any other reference material, backpacks, brief cases, luggage, or any other type of bag (including laptop bags/cases); digital watches, stop watches, yada yada yada...
Am I supposed to ride the #7 bus through downtown Baltimore carrying my laptop and charger in my hands? Really?

They probably expect you to leave it in their storage room that they disclaim all liability from. No wallets allowed in Illinois.
They also say you can bring food for lunch in case of bad weather, but also say it will be left in an unsecured storage room. Glad to know they're worried about someone messing with everyone's food.

In WA all we can bring in is a small clear ziplock with 1 ID, 1 credit card, and 1 key--EITHER a hotel or car or house key. No water. No chapstick. No kidding.

I tie my food in a plastic bag and knot it like 8373827283 times so there's no way for someone to tamper with it. I used to do that when I lived with roommates. I trust NO one!somuchbooty wrote:They probably expect you to leave it in their storage room that they disclaim all liability from. No wallets allowed in Illinois.

I reviewed this morning but have taken most of today off. I keep feeling like I know nothing and should review more.

You got this. I haven't reviewed at all today and am just trying to take it easy. I took a nap during the day after the drive up to Albany and had a nightmare about the bar.zot1 wrote:I reviewed this morning but have taken most of today off. I'm in MD. Take a brown paper bag with you (and put your belongings in there) if you are worried about it and then just throw out the bag when you get there. I'm bringing a reusable grocery bag to put all my stuff in, that way if they don't let me keep it outside I won't be upset about tossing it.kateebee wrote:Any Marylanders in here? Of course, I'm an idiot that waited to take the MPRE after the bar, so I still have that to look forward to in August....
No, you're not the only one. I took it for another state and passed, but CA won't accept that score( not high enough) so I have to take it again.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Good luck to those of you with essays tomorrow!!!
My only advice is to IGNORE EVERYONE!!! People will talk during break and as you're all walking out at the end of the day and you'll want to shoot them in the face because you'll think you did something wrong/applied the law incorrectly. Find a quiet away place for lunch - you'll be thankful you did.
The worst part isn't even the exam - it's waiting for the results.

Anybody still here? Waiting on MA tomorrow, not studying today feels really weird. I don't know what to do, I feel like I'm losing information by the minute.

Essay day wasn't that draining. All the stress will be wondering if your "WHERE WAS LITERALLY THIS ENTIRE QUESTION'S SUBJECT MATTER IN THE OUTLINE" moments and subsequent efforts to shoot in the dark making up law will be successful enough to get you a passing amount of points.

They were so lax about this! I think MD has been pretty bad about communicating stuff prior to the exam.eloise16 wrote:I'm in MD.
