No, he's right. Even with an incendiary device, it wasn't 1st degree because there was no one inside the building. For first degree, you need both an incendiary device AND knowledge that someone was in the building (or a reason to think someone would be in the building). Third degree was the highest he could be charged with. I wouldn't stress over it though. We all missed shit.

Can someone, in short, explain how do we find out the results? I mean, do they send an email saying passed/failed, or do we have to go to some website etc.? Thanks :)

You are right. 1st degree requires knowledge of one in the building. Then we were right:) It was 3rd degree. As of now nothing counts. Only thing we could do is waiting.

FYI: 1st degree arson is committed when one intentionally burns a building with the intent to obtain insurance proceeds. That was part of the fact pattern.

No, you still need someone in the building or car, mate. It's conjunctive.

Good Evening my friends,

I have been able to stay away from TLS (and agonizing over the exam) since my last post on February 26th. With the results coming out soon, I logged on today and reviewed recent posts. After reading the most recent posts, I thought that some were still debating essay questions. At first I believed that some of you never stopped discussing your answers. I was relieved to see that the discussions only recently began anew. Nonetheless, we will all learn soon how we did. Good luck to everyone!

To be fair, the degree of arson won't matter that much i think

Hi all,

Does anyone feel that they might release the 2016 Feb results earlier than usual in light of the July 2016 UBE timeline? Every indication on the NEW YORK BOLE website shows that there is a firm deadline of the end of April to register for the July UBE. Surely, they'll give us more than a few days to determine whether we'll sit for July if we fail... Surely... Right?

I think we'll get a separate deadline.

That's right. If I'm not mistaken, re-applicants can register within 14 days after the results are released (irrespective of the next administration's deadline).

They send an email with an attached file in .pdf saying if you passed or not. It's really hardcore. Mine was 97kb so if your .pdf is like 30kb or something, you can slowly start to celebrate because the next 20sc will be pure happiness.

But I wouldn't expect this email before the 28th of April since they usually release around this date the results of the Feb' bar. However they still have until mid-may technically so the wait could be much longer even though I don't think so

As an european, last time was terrible, I saw this email on the morning, that day at work was terrible !

I think 2 years ago was the earliest that Feb results were ever released, and that was something like 4/24... I wouldn't expect it any time before that unless the NY BOLE has all of a sudden gotten more efficient.

The wait is killing me though lol

I can't wait for this email.

This is nuts how in a matter of seconds this will be pure happiness or just an infinite succession of questions "well....should i retake, should i quit my job and study full time instead?"

Yup, after I failed my first time taking the test (Feb 2015) I knew that when the email came for July's results it was 1 page = passed, 2 pages = failed.

2 weeks leading up the July results coming out, I was a wreck. All the rumors of the release date were floating around each day that got closer to date they released July results in 2014. Finally, the day came where Abovethelaw kind of spilled the beans that the results were probably coming out that night at midnight. Tried to watch some Friends with my wife starting around 8pm, 10% paying attention, the other 90% both of us just stressing out. 9 came, then 10, then 11. By 11:30 I was a complete mess, couldn't think straight, heart was racing. Midnight came and I had my phone in my hand, refreshing my email every 10 seconds, 12:01..12:02...12:03... Each minute passing was absolute torture.

Now I don't remember exactly when it came through, but at some point soon after 12:05, the email showed up. I stared at it, I couldn't click it. I said a prayer, my hands were soaking wet with sweat at that point. I click the email and didn't want to see the KB size, for whatever reason I wanted to click the PDF and have my fate in plain English. As soon as I opened the PDF, I tried to scroll down to a second page. It bounced back up like a rubber band, only 1 page showing. I could barely read at that point but my hand started to tremble as I read that I had passed.

I screamed out loud and hugged my wife, MONTHS of stress and shame and disappointment slid off me like a waterfall. It was one of the greatest feelings of my life. I got a permanent job soon after that and last Wednesday I was officially admitted to the NYS Bar.

Hang in there my friends, remain positive and believe that you'll open that 1 page PDF come the end of this month.

So last year, the February results were released on the final Tuesday of the month of April.if that is the same trend this year, it would look like we might know for sure what our fates are by April 26 this year.

Yeah, I've pretty much been shooting for late April the whole time. Last year was the 27th or 28th and the year before was the 24th or 25th. I would think there is at most the same amount of people sitting this Feb compared to last Feb, if not less, so I wouldn't be surprised if we were closer to that 24th/25th/26th mark.

From what I've seen, the exam results are released on either a Tuesday or a Thursday. So the 19th, 21st, 26th, or 28th at midnight.

2 out of the past 4 Feb results came out on either a Monday (Last year) or Wednesday... I think we're all getting a little too far into the weeds here. I'm just accepting it's going to be late April or Early May and call it a day.

I don't know what or how to feel at this point. Right now, I'm hopeful, which scares me because I feel like if I don't pass, the aftermath would suck x100 more than if I was "cautiously" optimistic. I realize how nuts that sounds!

Two weeks from now is my estimation.

Good luck to all - I REALLY hope this will be our last time and we can avoid the logistical nightmare that is taking time off work.
