San Antonio this summer lost AC. And Fort Worth last February lost heat (that shouldn't be a concern next week though). As I understand it, part of the rationale for the single-site administration this February is so that if there's a cock-up, it will be equal for everyone.longhornlaw wrote:Anything crazy go on while y'all were taking the exam?
My year the toilets in the front of the hall didn't stop flushing the whole time, and somebody started screaming halfway through the last day.
The year before that there was an earthquake while the exam was going on. Supposedly another year a door blew open and people's papers went everywhere, so 2 dudes start fighting each other trying to figure out whose paper was whose.

So rather than stop having cock-ups, they'll just drag us all to Austin. I'm sure the students from Tech especially appreciate it.BVest wrote:San Antonio this summer lost AC. Don't mind me, I'm just a crotchety old woman who is tired and wants to hurry up and do nothing for a while.

Seriously asking again: Where do you park if there is no parking space? Across First Street at that Hooters or at Threadgill's? At Whataburger? What should be the go-to option?

There are a couple of hotels within walking distance-ish where you could probably get a spot. I would be wary of parking at a restaurant, especially since they might be on the lookout for that. Getting towed would be a pain in the ass that none of us need right now. I've been idly considering seeing if one of those places will let me give them money to park in their lots all day, but I don't know how well that would go over!jamescastle wrote:Seriously asking again: Where do you park if there is no parking space? I don't know whether this applies to the Bar but for big events, the Long Center/Parmer Events Center has an overflow parking garage across the street.jamescastle wrote:Seriously asking again: Where do you park if there is no parking space? If you have to park elsewhere, I would suggest trying the Hyatt first, though at that hour in the morning I don't know if they'd be full of overnight guests or not. Their lot is like $25/day. Second attempt would be City Hall Parking Garage, which is just across the Lavaca/Guadalupe bridge from Palmer.

The One Texas Center Parking Garage will be available for certain major events and overflow parking when the Palmer Events Center Garage reaches capacity. The One Texas Center Garage is available to the public after 6 pm on weekdays and during the day or evening on weekends.

I got the email that no phones are allowed, but I'll need my phone to uber from the hotel to the Palmer. Are there lockers at the Palmer to store valuables? Thanks in advance.

For Consumer Law, are there any significant differences between the TDCA and FDCPA? It looks like most debt collection questions ask about both

The ones I can think of off the top of my head:DueProcessDoWheelies wrote:For Consumer Law, are there any significant differences between the TDCA and FDCPA? It looks like most debt collection questions ask about both
1. FDCPA applies only to third-party debt collectors
2. FDCPA specifically designates hours where no phone calls can be made (8am-9pm debtor's local time - this might be 9am-8pm)
3. Attorney as debt collector has a different criteria, I think (volume and regular collection?)
4. TDCA has a minimum recovery of $100, FDCPA has a statutory $1000
5. I think the statute of limitations is different between the two?

8am to 9pm. Also the list of what's considered bad behavior by the creditor is a non-exclusive list under the FDCPA but is an exclusive list under the TDCA. Really the main difference though is that TDCA applies to everybody and the FDCPA is only third parties.left shark wrote:The ones I can think of off the top of my head:DueProcessDoWheelies wrote:For Consumer Law, are there any significant differences between the TDCA and FDCPA? I believe only the TDCA is a tie-in statute as well.

What do you think the odds are that an Article 2 question shows up or there's a bankruptcy question, considering what's going on in the oil and gas sector right now?

I looked at the past UCC topics recently and Art. 2 questions are very rare. I'm hoping for one though because I HATE COMMERCIAL PAPER SO MUCH.longhornlaw wrote:What do you think the odds are that an Article 2 question shows up or there's a bankruptcy question, considering what's going on in the oil and gas sector right now?
Hope no bankruptcy stuff is there. Didn't even glance at that shit this time.

Art 2 is relatively rare, but it has come up 3 times in the last 6 administrations.longhornlaw wrote:What do you think the odds are that an Article 2 question shows up or there's a bankruptcy question, considering what's going on in the oil and gas sector right now?

Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
Quick question:
For the civil procedure & evidence, and the criminal procedure & evidence part, are we supposed to use laptop or hand write the answers?
I got conflicting information: on the one hand, during the lectures, the professors said that we have to fit in the answers within 5 lines and you need to think what you say and be precise, otherwise not enough room for you to revise your answer. On the other hand, I'm looking at the admissions ticket, and there's instruction on how to use SofTest for this part and how to write your answers with the software. So handwritten or typing?
Thanks guys!

Also, what's the best way to spend the last few days? I'm going to finish reviewing the Family Law and Community Property lecture notes and outline a few essay questions on these subjects today, and I think I've done one round of review of all subjects. What should I do during Saturday, Sunday and half of Monday (I'll need to drive 4 hours to Austin....)?
My current plan:
Saturday: review MBE subjects and do Barbri 100 refresher
Sunday: review Texas essay subjects, but do which essay questions? Recent years?
Monday: review notes
Does that sound reasonable? Anybody has any suggestions?
Thank you!

You can do either. This is the first administration where they let you type your P&E answers. If you registered as a laptop taker you can use it. There is a character limit.apple44 wrote:Quick question:

I advise against doing 100 questions in one day this close to the bar. Maybe 50. Maybe.apple44 wrote:Also, what's the best way to spend the last few days? On Saturday I'm going over my notes for all the essay topics. May or may not do any practice essays. 20-30 MBEs.
Sunday I'm looking over all the MPT answers to refresh myself on formatting, etc. 15-20 MBEs.
Monday- nothing

Thank you for your advise!
I'm a working attorney so I didn't seriously study until February, now just finishing up reviewing lecture notes and I'm afraid that I didn't do enough practice questions... Well I wish I have another week, then I'll be ready!
Good Luck everyone!
