Ugh. And to think I thought the MBEs were going to pull me up from my essay scores.
Hahahahaaaaa!!!!
Well... maybe this will be an epic normalization boost administration. There seems to be universal agreement here that there was more than a fair quantity of BS. I don't know. Waiting 10 weeks to find out is going to be pretty rough.
What jrx are you in? In NY we have to wait until mid November.
I know the question was for sunbird, but... CA gets their results on November 21st. Just in time for the Holidays!! lol

MBE was really tough. I was cautiously optimistic after day one but not anymore. I literally did not even understand what half the questions were asking me. And when they hit me with "battery by way of explosive slightly defective gas tank" I raised my white flag in defeat. Well tomorrow I have NJ, which has become increasingly more difficult. The February pass rate for all test takers was like 60%. So I am not feeling to confident. *sigh*

Agreed. I probably stared at the question for 3 minutes while thinking.... wait.... battery?

If you look at past stats, February is always much lower than July.

The point is, though, that they don't give a fuck if they end up failing 20% more people than usual. They do that once a year already.

But that's not true. More people fail because February exams are dominated by second and third-time takers as well as a generally less qualified subset of first-time takers. The tests are normalized, and so the variation is not random. February exams across the country have lower pass rates in every category because people who take in February actually do worse as a whole.

I'm pretty confident that the moron that wrote that question was smoking crack when he wrote it.

February '14 was MUUUUUCH easier w/ regard to the MBE. This ... was a joke, and certainly not a test of general competency. All I could think about were the Themis lecturers saying something like, "But that is a minor point of law that the Bar Examiners are VERY unlikely to test you on ..." I'd like to see those lecturers attempt this July MBE.
I'd also like to see a more detailed score report, and some of the so-called "explanations" for those riddles they called "questions."

Lets just say it was a deceptively easy question when you thought it through.

Great example of how I felt like trying to do this MBE was like trying to see the image in one of those illusion pictures. Like I had to slightly cross my eyes.

After going back to the Themis outline I agree that it was a deceptively easy question. I stared at it forever and it appears that I got it right.

I def threw out everything the instant I got back, so I will live in blissful ignorance about it. In fact, I don't even remember what I answered. I'm purging my mind as hard and fast as I can.

Are you CA peeps done yet? Vent!
I was in NY and today was my first day off. I spent the day splitting firewood for the winter. About the furthest thing you can do from writing essays and answering MBE questions. I didn't think about the test once while splitting the wood.

Finished the bar in Massachusetts today & finished 86% of the course after the attorney adviser advised us once we hit 80% we should pass. She better be right.
I literally am never going through this bullshit ever again.

Took NJ today and it was a fucking shit show compared to PA. Totally unorganized. Also, half the kids there cheered when it was over, pretty weird, but then I walk out to an insane amount of parents waiting to pick up their grown ass adult children. Weirdest fucking site ever.

Did they seriously cheer? Now I'm wondering if that's a normal practice ... no one cheered when the MBE was over up here and I don't believe I heard cheers today. It was more like an annoyed silence kind of saying, "I want to the far away from this convention center and you senior citizens are going too damn slow collecting these materials."

I can't throw anything out until I know that I passed

I didn't think NJ was too bad except that con law question.

I didn't think the questions were too bad, except civ pro and one part of that con law question. But I meant the way it was organized and they told us to be there 745 and didn't let us in 830

Nobody cheered in PA either. It was odd.

Were you in Somerset? I thought that was the weirdest thing - and there were some parents there at lunch too. I was driving home and got stuck in traffic, and my parents called me at 7 to see where I was - I was annoyed they were checking up on me, plus long day and I just didn't feel like talking. My dad works in Secaucus right across the street from the meadowlands and he said lots of parents were picking up there too.
And I agree that con law question made no sense. Civ pro - well if I had the civ pro material down I wouldn't have thought it was that bad.

Seacaucus. Shit was unreal. Somerset would have been awesome for where I actually live, but then again that would mean NJ Bar examiners would have to be somewhat organized.

Oh, you could have been describing Somerset. There were parents there at lunch and parents there at pick-up. So weird. Even if I lived nearby, I wouldn't want my parents dropping me off, picking me up, and bringing me lunch. I'm a fully grown adult, who just lived on my own for 3 years - which makes it so hard to be back at home! And my parents are pretty cool.
And there was cheering too - sort of half the room did it and it awkwardly tapered off. Sounds like identical test sites - and everyone sitting around me (and me) would have loved to have Secaucus. I don't know how they assign them.

CA..finished up in Pasadena. It was hot, awkward and the main proctor lady gave me mini heart attacks each time she was calling on time. Feel....I'm not even sure how.

When I was doing the MBE my proctor *would not stop talking*!!! I couldn't even focus on the questions because she was talking so loud. Several times I had to look at her really hard, smile, and then she would stop talking. Then 10 minutes later should would start the same shit and I'd have to go through the same routine. What the hell?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
