Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Long time lurker, first time poster. I am an Australian attorney who sat the WA bar and just found out I passed!!!!! I am 8 years out of law school and, up until bar prep did not know even a scrap of American law. If I can do it, anyone can. I have a toddler and had to study between her naps and at night and on the weekend when my husband wasn't working. This forum really helped me get through the waiting period. Good luck to everyone else!

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
I also passed Indiana. First attempt. It was a relief that they were released before work instead of at 5 pm, as I was absolutely dreading being at work today. I'm a practicing attorney who is already licensed in another state, but took that bar many years ago and had forgotten everything. I didn't have time to learn all (13!?) Indiana subjects, so I focused on the MBE, hoping that if I did well enough on that and the MPT I would pass. After the test, I felt reasonably good about the MBE and great about the MPT, but I thought I completely bombed the Indiana essays to the point that I wasn't sure even a 150 MBE, which is what I had been shooting for, would carry me through. The subjects I thought would be slam dunks for me had weird,out-of-left-field questions and issues that hadn't appeared in the Barbri practice questions and the more straightforward questions were in subjects I had basically glossed over. I was really panicking (that news about MBE scores being at a 30 year low also didn't help) and am so relieved that I passed. I requested my MBE score because I'm really curious and will update the spreadsheet once I get it. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for results!!

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
I am already a licensed attorney in Arkansas but I've moved to Tennessee and had to take the February TN bar. They released the results this morning and I passed which is a huge relief. They only give you your scores if you fail so I can't tell you how I did other than I passed. If you need something to kill the time while waiting on your results like I did TN will eventually post statistics on http://www.tnble.org. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
I failed by 3 points. I'm really weak on MBE, I failed Feb 2015, b/c of low MBE score, high MEE/MPT. July I failed, finally got a 139 MBE score after Adaptibar but somehow bombed the essays.
Going into Feb 2016, I really believed I was going to pass feeling good after the essays. Looks like I did well on essay portion, but somehow my MBE dropped and failed by 3 points.
I tried Barbri, Adaptibar, is there a tutor or something for MBEs? I would appreciate anyone in position like me. Should I even bother with July? B/c I seem to somehow do better on essays in Feb.
Please let me know on this post or via pm.
Thanks so much.

Sam0406, I'm so sorry to hear. 3 points is on the razor's edge. What state was your bar exam from?Sam0406 wrote:I failed by 3 points. I am so sorry for you. I know you must really feel bad and depressed, I don't what to stay but please, know that failing by 3 points or so is nothing and that you have the ability to pass the Bar. At this level, it's more about being unlucky than anything else.Sam0406 wrote:I failed by 3 points. I'm really weak on MBE, I failed Feb 2015, b/c of low MBE score, high MEE/MPT. congrats to all those that passed! Keep letting us know, how did you feel about the exam walking out?
sorry to those that didn't pass this time (I hate saying failed). YOU WILL PASS. it's a nasty beast, but not an unbeatable one. I send as much good juju and prayers your way... my grandpa always told me, "nothing worth having comes easy." I believe this the most about this exam. xxxx

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Congrats (and condolences) to those who have received results.
Texas here, waiting until May 2. I'm getting tired of everyone telling me that they know I passed. They have no idea. My boss asked me when bar results are released today and how soon after I can be sworn in. Good god, if I fail, everyone in my life will be disappointed. I think the expectation pressure from them is worse than pressure from myself.

I did not finish one of my MPTs and I received a 1 so maybe buy attributed but I am also wondering about the MBE and how I did...but back to the drawing board for July 2016. I have to conquer this beast!!!

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Thanks you guys, it's so tough to fail. Why is it that I fail when essay is high and mbe is low, vice versa? If I could just combine Feb and July. Where do I go from here? I'm so scared to retake it after experiencing failing repeatedly. I thought I had MBE July up so I thought I'd get similar this time, not decrease. What can I do? Seriously need to make sure MBE goes up. Not sure out of Feb and July, better chance of passing?

I have been working full time but now thinking after this latest failure to hang up the full time job until I can conquer "the beast." Fellow TLSers thoughts when I should let work know my last day. I am thinking end of May to start studying in June 1 for July. I worked full time both times I took the bar exam and obviously I can't do both right now with a family, husband and six children. Thoughts anyone???

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
I was able to study full-time for Feb 2016 CA bar (took buyout package and am temporarily living on severance) and found the undertaking to be overwhelming. I can't imagine how that would be possible if I were married, had kids and had to work full-time. Although I didn't track my time, I was surprised at how much "leakage" there was in my day from regular chores, job hunting etc. Afterwards, I found someone's pointers and one suggested that all extraneous stuff be put on hold during the study period.JayRock2015 wrote:I have been working full time but now thinking after this latest failure to hang up the full time job until I can conquer "the beast." I don't get results until May 13; however, I'm planning for both outcomes: pass/no pass. Specifically, my goal is to finish/submit my character and fitness application by May 13 so that's done. If I pass, I will have a better job hunting story (want to relocate to California from midwest). Since I'm already licensed in PA and NY, it should just be a waiting game to get admitted in CA. If I don't pass, my summer is toast. I've already made hotel reservations for two potential test centers (retake registration deadline May 31). Barbri starts May 23 (can redo for free); that's when I would restart my study. I qualified for attorney bar; therefore, I don't have to deal with MBE (historically, did better on essays; CA was first experience with PT).
Advice for you: I don't know how old your kids are; however, I would enlist everyone's help (including extended family, friends, etc.) in this discreet project. Between around Memorial Day and the bar, can others pick up your typical duties so that you can concentrate "solely" on bar study (i.e., allocate 8-10 hours per day)? Would your job be willing to give you a leave of absence? If not, I'd quit with the standard two weeks notice (i.e., mid May). Also, when I had to take MBE I supplemented Barbri with PMBR (old name).
When you pass, you can have a huge celebration party!!!!!!! I was teaching part-time at a private business school around the time of my NY bar and told my students (older adults with family obligations) if I passed, I'd treat them all to dinner. It was a great outing!
You can do it!
