Uh what was that family law + bankruptcy essay? I made up almost the entire thing.

Same with the real estate essay. All i knew was change locks is ok for a commercial tenant.

For the oil/gas, i wasn't sure but thought you couldn't try and insert that kind of condition in a d/o.

Absolutely agree. On real estate I said landlord had to lock up and post a notice. My answer on the third question about what court was two sentences and something about the court where the property is located.

On oil/gas I talked about how the division order cant be inconsistent with the lease.

That business associations essay about the kinds of entities they could form was weird. I kind of just stream of consciousness "analyzed" the provisions.

Agree with that too. I was surprised with all the community property issues--first on the wills Q and then on the first family law Q

I was surprised by the bankruptcy question but figured, WTF, nobody else is likely to really know it either so just put some stuff down.

I think Child Support is the only thing that evades an automatic stay because children are important. It's kind of like how student loan debt is unsecured, but it won't be discharged in bankruptcy unless undue hardship. Mortgages of course get stopped. Spousal support gets stopped because the spouse would be a creditor and the automatic stay tells creditors they cannot collect while a bankruptcy is pending.

I also went into how the child support was too much and the spousal maintenance was too much because the husband lived in the household.

Thank Jesus I took BK in law school!

I'm sure you said it more eloquently than I did, but its comforting to hear we had the same approach. I also said bankruptcy blocks everybody except.... do it for the children!

Also was thrown on the commercial lease because BarBri outline sucks for TX real property distinctions so I just made stuff up that turned out to be more or less in the ballpark.

Overall just glad this ridiculous exercise is over.

what exactly is needed to get an okay grade on an essay? i felt okay about most of them, but for the 2-3 where i just had to make up an answer, i've heard that in Texas you get a fair amount of points for sticking to IRAC and just putting stuff down, but don't exactly know how what to make of that.

That was arguably the easiest essay we had... thanks for this. Hearing things like this make me feel so much better.

Yeah, for the commercial lease one, I said that the Landlord had the duty to mitigate damages by selling the items and trying to lease it out to another tenant. I remember learning something before about landlords not being able to sit on their hands and waiting for money to add up every month. I then said that the landlord could then sue for damages from the owed rent minus the liquidated assets and the time the premises was vacant. Total guess, but who knows. lol. I went to law school in Arkansas and I remember that from property class. Only thing I got for that answer.

You will be fine. They told me the upload deadlines are for administrative convenience, and late uploads aren't penalized. So, no worries!

Writ of Reentry? Really? Why not pay the rent?

Finalizing just and right division is ok/not ok while federal preemptive trustee is making creditor repayment arrangements?

At NRG they told us to change "Billy" to "Loretta". It was a BLE typo.

Same thing happened to me and I am freaking out because I didn't upload yesterdays essays until this morning. Just trying to confirm that you were told by BLE staff that deadline was for convenience? I received the confirmation email but am also worried that Texas won't grade? Thanks in advance for the clarification

I also like the genius in the back of the room at NRG that thought clapping in the middle of the exam was the proper way to get the proctors' attention. The next day before the exam started again I saw one of the BLE shirts instructing him not to do it again.

Lol wasnt aware of this, but it was kinda fun at the end of day 3 when everbody started howling and clapping. One guy started it all, bet he felt pretty proud of himself.
