Yep, I was in the same boat my first (and second) bar exams. One of the nice things about the Feb. exam is the wait is four weeks less than the July one so that's nice. I can tell you there is really nothing fun about finding out you failed on Halloween. Although I imagine it's pretty fun if you passed.

That sounds familiar. I've been able to put the stress off these past couple of months. But as it gets closer, I'm having a harder and harder time putting it out of my mind.

I'd rather find out on Halloween than wait another week!

Though apparently the post-bar interns at my job get told that next week if they even have a shot at being hired, so maybe I should be grateful for the extra week of unpaid labor I get to do :)

Haha, at the time I found out I had a job, and even my own office, in the litigation department. That morning on our morning attorney conference call the owner of the firm said I was getting my bar results soon and that I would be taking on a lot of people's cases. We had an office halloween party. I was Sully from Monster's Inc. That was an interesting moment to find out I failed the bar when you're dressed like Sully, that's why I'm kind of glad it's not on Halloween this year, haha.

I've got an office with a door. You can bet that door will be sealed until results come out.

This. I'm starting to have nightmares. I was fine for the first two months, but at this point I'm constantly nauseated. The anxiety is ridiculous.

Highly recommended. You won't get any work done on Nov. 5th, guaranteed.

Eff, I just check my calendar and I'm supposed to tag along to a court appearance. Welp.

I didn't really start getting nervous until this week (unlike last year where I was refreshing the PA site for six weeks). I really wish I had taken more than two weeks to buckle down and do this thing; I was banking on a strong curve like last year's and obviously that's not going to happen. Should probably order another copy of my birth certificate in case I need to send one off with the next application.

If it makes you feel any better, re-applying for the Texas Bar is a very simple process, they keep everything you already sent. You just fill out a short form online, pay the fee, which is 300-something, and pick your preferred sites. You'll have 30 days to do the re-apply.

That does make me feel better, actually. Thanks! So, I wouldn't be on the hook for another $1,000?

Also, do they send you a score breakdown?

They don't send you your raw scores, but they send you your scaled scores on each section and your total score in the mail. (The pass list just has names and applicant numbers, no scores.) It usually takes a couple of days to arrive in the mail (if you're in Texas). No, you won't be on the hook for another grand for the application fee, and they hold spots for retakers for the next bar. (In this case February.)

If you're re-taking, I highly recommend the Baylor site. It's a much more comfortable room to take the bar in, and they provide you with lunch so you don't have to leave to eat.

The re-apply process is very simple, so don't worry about that before scores come out. You can just wait for the pass list in anxiety like the rest of us, haha.

Also, Texas does allow for a review process that is pretty helpful, because you get to meet face to face with the bar examiners and the people who actually write the essay question and their advice can be very helpful. If you went to an in-state law school you can only get an informal review in the mail, which is just some written breakdowns of the questions. If you fail twice and are in-state or failed once and are out-of-state, you can get a formal review where you sit down with them face to face. They have your essays in front of them and can help you figure out where you went wrong and how you can give more effective answers. I found it helpful when I went.

Thanks. Not in Texas, but close by. I took it in Austin, which was alright (I have family there). Will probably take it there again if need be, but we'll see. Two weeks to go.

That... surprisingly makes me feel better. I kept telling myself during the bar exam that I've lived my entire life not being a lawyer and I've had a pretty good life. The worse that could happen is nothing. As it turns out, the worse that could happen is paying the State of Texas $300. I can live with that.

http://www.ble.state.tx.us/ExaminationI ... 14July.htm

For those wondering, this will be the URL that will have the pass list. It's a pretty fun page to refresh constantly the day or two before the pass list is released. It won't help you see it any earlier than anyone else, the list will just suddenly be there. However a day or two before they will have the page ready, with one name under each letter (these will be names from the previous tests pass list, so don't get excited when you see them on there.) If nothing else, it will give you a signal that the pass list is going to be released within the next few days.

Seconded.

Also, just FYI, don't search for your last name as 'practice' on other state's pass lists. It will still make you feel terrible when you name doesn't show up. (TERRIBLE IDEA)

I imagine everything you write in Amy Poehler's voice.

That is the highest of online compliments. Searching for my name on pass list of a bar I didn't take felt like something Leslie Knope would do.

I think they put the letters in the mail the same day that they post the list. So, no, I don't think we get any advance notice.

Pass list will be the first notification you receive that you passed. Your scores will arrive a few days later, depending on how far from Austin you are.

I had a dream I failed last night. It was terrible. I'm so ready for this to be over.

I've planned out something to do every night/weekend day from now til D-Day so that I don't have time to freak out (hypothetically).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
