Yeah, I got it too. I posted above you, I felt like it was a tease.

I see they also have decided to take Fed Civ Pro off the NY portion starting in Feb. now that it is going to be on the MBE.

I didn't get this email. Though I have changed email addresses and keep dumping my spam in my old box, so may have missed it. What did it say?

It said "don't reply to this" and contained the basic information from your respective department's website regarding the admission process and character and fitness and such.

If you are still curious, PM me and I will email it to you.

Does anyone know when we hear? Seems a lot of other states are reporting.

Sorry to repeat the same question I'm sure many have posted.

I'm hoping for a repeat this year - keep checking the website, I think they'll announce the day eventually.

I'm in the 2nd department and have been trying to get all my paperwork together (fingers crossed that I actually pass). People are right that those legal-employment affidavits are a huge pain. Nearly everyone got them back to me quickly, except for one person. Not wanting to be a nuisance, I gave her two weeks and then went back to the office - only to find out that she's on a two-week vacation! Which means it will take me a month to get one form - good luck to everyone else with this.

Passed with a surprisingly low mbe score. Guess those essays helped out.

I passed, surprisingly enough. Very pleased since it means I won't have to take the new exam with those godawful civpro questions.

I also had a relatively low MBE- not terrible, but borderline. I'm guessing that either my essays were great or this test was just really hard for everyone.

I have no idea how this NY score calculation works. So MBE and the Essays are worth 40% each. So if I got 142 Scaled MBE. What is the minimum essay score I got in order for me to be nudged toward "pass." Minimum score as in all non-MBE stuffs including the MPT and other stuff, and of course the NY mcs. Can anybody help out?

Passed! With super sketchy MBE. I'd love to know the range.

It is impossible to know without more information. NY scoring works like this:

Raw MBE score is scaled to a scaled MBE score. NY then takes the scaled MBE score and re scales it on a scale of 1000.

For example: a perfect scaled MBE score is probably assigned a scaled score of 1000. Then the score is weighted by 40 percent, or 400 points. Thus, the maximum amount of points you can earn on the MBE is 400 in NY. 500 points for the essay and 100 points for the multiple choice.

Of this you need a final score of 665 to pass. Thus, theoretically, a examinee could pass with perfect essay scores, perfect NY MC and 65 points for the MBE (which would be an awful MBE score).

Also passed. Kaplan bar prep. MBE score will come with NJ. I was averaging a raw score of 141 on the Kaplan MBE.

Seriously! I have all my affidavits already, so I'll now be sending them in. But I just scanned them - all 26 pages (2 character + 5 employment + pro bono) so I'll have a copy. And I realized I never got my pro bono form notarized - first stop in the morning!
