Not sure if this was already asked but does anyone know when unsuccessful candidates are supposed to get their essays back? Also, how is everyone doing with their studies and is it too early to make predictions on February essays (Input would be appreciated to get the mental juices flowing). Thanks.

I've heard about people getting a really good deal on their bar review courses.

For Bar Bri/Kaplan - how much did people pay? Wondering if I overpaid/what to advise some 3Ls.

Thanks!
I paid about 2200-2300

I paid $1,365 for Themis. Themis is all you need to pass.

I paid 1095 for Themis after submitting paperwork for their "public interest scholarship," or whatever it's called.

At the end of the course I had finished about 2400 MBE questions. I was averaging around 145-150 raw score of the practice MBEs at the end.

I passed July 2014 CA on my first try

About 8 people I know used Themis, and we all passed. Of the 20 or some friends that took Barbri/Kaplan, around 7-8 failed. I know it's very anecdotal, but the point is Themis is just as good as the more established courses.

Yup. Did Themis. I studied mostly off of the pdfs of the lecture notes. Did about 1000 mbes on themis and another 600 on multistate edge. No practice essays. Passed 1st time July 14

I highly recommend Themis. Other than the "personalized essay reader", I found the entire thing to be helpful and more than enough to pass July 2014. I ended up talking them down to around 1200 if I remember right, and you can do much better if you that you are going into public interest.

I did also buy Leansheets, though, and am glad I did.

For anyone looking to self study, I have a full set of Cal. barbri books (unmarked save the lecture outlines you complete in class) and a set of totally unmarked critical pass MBE flashcards that I'll part with for $250 + shipping. PM if interested.

EDIT: sold.

Just wondering whether anyone has received graded essays back yet? This wait is driving me crazy.

If anyone would be willing to donate their graded essays to my free essay bank, that would make a fine holiday gift :) Doesn't necessarily have to be from the most recent administration either.

Just let me know how you want to send me your scans and I will take care of the rest, including redacting your applicant ID.

Thanks!

well...can't believe it but sample answers are up and I got sampled on one of the PT's. Couldn't believe it I was thinking the only sample chance I had was the crim pro. Does anyone know if I can ask the bar to confirm it was mine?

It says they were published with consent of the writers. So if they didn't ask you, it most likely isn't yours?

I'm going to email them tomorrow. I was never asked for consent but I am 100% sure it was my essay. I put a specific type of wording in every answer I gave and it's there.
