I honestly wouldn't put anything past the NCBE. It wouldn't surprise me if they made an exam where all the answers were D.Njbar wrote:I took the pa bar and had form #7 . Personally, I do not believe that the bar examers heavily favor one or two answer choices for the Mbe . Yea, I won't be supresed if they made 60% between b's and d's, but that's it. I do think they don't want to see barbri tell their student what to guess. How about your Mbe? I will say I had about 60%-65% between B's and D's, and most of them came were on PM session. I have way more A's and C's for the Am session.subsilentio wrote:I honestly wouldn't put anything past the NCBE. Ok. Am I going crazy or what? The NCBEX website says the MBE has 175 graded questions and 25 unscored questions with each subject having 25 questions each. Did this just change?

Yeah, this is not what I understood during bar prep. It's always been 190 graded, 10 experimental. Maybe this is for Feb. 2017 and on?
Do we have any reason to believe that this applied to the July 2016 administration?
It shouldn't matter at the end of the day, I'm sure the grading would come out the same once it's scaled. Even so, they shouldn't be changing shit on people without telling them.

Yes that was my understanding also.
Hopefully it will shake out in the end but that just took me by surprise....

Wait... Bar Exam day is kind of a blur for me, but didn't they announce the 190 graded and 10 experimental numbers during the instructions portion of the MBE? I seem to remember something about them telling us to answer all of the questions and don't try to guess which ones are experimental... I'm like 100% certain that it is 190/10, and that the Bar Examiners are the one who told us that.
They probably just have some dufus intern editing the copy on the website and screwing things up.

This was definitely changed. It is not an intern messing with the copyright. Take a look at the following link, which is an archive of the same page from July 12, 2016.
https://web.archive.org/web/20160712165 ... preparing/
It very clearly states that only 10 are experimental. The real question is whether this change applies to the February exam and those going forward, or also the July 16 administration.

I emailed them and asked. Here's the response: "This change is effective with the February 2017 administration. Because MBE scores are scaled, all scores will still be comparable to those earned when there were more scored questions."

scaling only works well when you compare apples to apples. feb scaling was a mess and it will be wors in feb 2017

A classmate just passed the WI bar, zooming into a picture of FB their letter said "the average score was 137 on each part of the examination". Does this mean this is the mean MBE score for everyone or just WI?

I mean, Wisconsin is probably a decent sample size of test takers, right? Wouldn't this be a pretty good indicator of MBE performance nationally?A. Nony Mouse wrote:Just WI.
137 mean score makes some sense. Higher than february, lower than last July (given that the class of '15 had better admissions stats than the class of '16).

Honestly, WI's probably going to be pretty small because if you go to law school in WI you don't have to take the bar exam. So it could be representative, but it might not be.

Yeah according to this person there was about 150 people total who took WI (one test center for the entire state). The past right was somewhere around 65%. It does make you wonder though about this applicant pool too. As in who the hell would take the WI bar if they didn't have a job lined up there since they have diploma privilege for all the unemployed who went to school there.A. Need more experimental questions to make the test more garbage. Haven't quite reached the lowest level yet, but NCBE is sure working hard to get there!passx3 wrote:TXLawguy wrote:This was definitely changed. It is not an intern messing with the copyright. WTF.
137 is the graded score, not 137 raw out of 190?

I don't think any states disclose the raw score, it's always the scaled score.

If you took the July 2015 or Feb. 2016 GA Bar, you might want to check your portal. The Bar Examiners made a scoring mistake so 90 people who previously failed had actually passed the bar.
HERE'S THE LINK:

SO I AM SYKED TO SAY THAT I PASSED THE GA BAR!!!!
