Yes, I've improved a little each time up till now. The MBE though is just the hump I can't get over.

I wonder if the civil procedure MBE questions will make things easier. Think of it this way, whatever your worst subject is-- you will have less questions of that subject next time (if you decide to take it).TxBarTaker09 wrote:Yes, I've improved a little each time up till now. Re: If I fail the bar exam again
your whole life?TxBarTaker09 wrote:So I've pretty much prepared for being a lawyer my whole life. I took law-related majors, I've worked in several law firms. I had a job as a litigation attorney going into my first bar exam at the firm I always wanted to work in at the city I always wanted to live in. And then I failed the bar. The first time my firm was actually pretty cool about it, gave my my job back after I took the second bar, until I found out I failed again. This time I lost my job.
So I took the bar exam a third time, and we're now a little over two weeks away from getting the results for the bar again. Except this time I'm broke. I've spent any extra money I had paying the bar exam fees and paying for bar courses (BarBri twice, then Kaplan once). I can't afford to take the bar exam anymore, so I've decided if I fail, I'm not taking it again. At least not for a long while.
So, I need another career path. Like I said, I've only ever wanted to be a lawyer. My mother owns a real estate firm back in my hometown, although I have no interest in selling real estate, it would be a job I could get. I don't really have any other good ideas or interests, so I'm looking for anyone who has good ideas for JD-advantage jobs?
Thanks!
And for those who also took the Texas Bar, good luck to you.
really?
for real?
I only did this since I failed premed and got tired of the military
fuck the mind of a child who wants this
no
that's messed up

I know, since I was a little kid this is what I've wanted. I love the law, I don't know why, but it's the one thing I'm truly passionate about.

Don't let this test defeat your passion. Life is short and you'll enjoy it all the more in a career you're passionate about. You said you're closing the gap each time you pass it so I'd say keep taking it until that gap is closed (hopefully 1 more time!). If the gap was huge or increasing, I'd probably say otherwise but you're literally getting closer each time.TxBarTaker09 wrote:I know, since I was a little kid this is what I've wanted. Definitely take the time to be sad/depressed/angry/annoyed/pissed/defeated because you need to but after that, definitely think about it.

repeaters tend to fail IF they have a life (jobs, family, etc) BUT if you had no life and studied, then you have an ADVANTAGE over us (experience) and odds are higher you passed
ask yourself, be honest

I've heard that a lot of Barbri users had issues with the MBE.
Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Re: If I fail the bar exam again
First time I worked and studied at the same time, and had some other stuff going on in my personal life, and didn't pass. Second time I studied full time, was with BarBri the first two times, and failed again. Third time I switched to Kaplan. As far as not being "fully honest with myself" I didn't do as well on the Essay portions this time, mostly because I was focusing on MBE more than other sections, but I still did well enough in those sections to pass if I had scored even a below average score on the MBE. Right now I'm well below average.
If I did re-take, and I'm still pretty far from even wrapping my mind around that, Do I go back to Kaplan? Do I do something completely different? I just really don't know.

I've heard good things about Themis. Also, how many practice MBE's have you done (each time, not collectively)?TxBarTaker09 wrote:First time I worked and studied at the same time, and had some other stuff going on in my personal life, and didn't pass. Have you considered one of the one-on-one tutors? This may be a situation where they can get you where you want to go.TxBarTaker09 wrote:First time I worked and studied at the same time, and had some other stuff going on in my personal life, and didn't pass. I'm definitely a fan of Themis. The explanations on the MBE questions as well as the lectures where they broke down every single question on the "midterm" were incredibly helpful (The conlaw section of that was absolutely amazing). Also, I thought their "model" essay answers and the feedback on graded essays were really useful (towards the approach of the Bar, I just spent a lot of time re-typing their answers in subjects I struggled with).
I know if you're worried about price and you're interested in going into any kind of Public Interest law, you can get the program for about 1k. Most of the reps are willing to throw in other discounts if money is an issue as well.
Good luck to you.

Re: If I fail the bar exam again
Why don't you take it again in July instead of rushing it for February? That'll give you extra time to study at a comfortable pace and hopefully finally get you over the hump.TxBarTaker09 wrote:First time I worked and studied at the same time, and had some other stuff going on in my personal life, and didn't pass. If you're struggling with MBE, I'd recommend the critical pass flash cards (with the new civ pro supplement pack), and just commit yourself to doing two subjects each day from now until July, even if you don't do anything else. Once you feel like you can start looking at MBE question sets, buy a few PMBR books and just do them incessantly. Then, you can start looking at essays/P&E/MPT stuff come early June.
