Just did the property graded essay and failed hard. I feel so unprepared now. Ugh. Did anyone else find the graded essay to be abnormally hard (I felt like it covered things we barely even touched on)?

Oh weird, I had no idea they gave us different ones! Mine was on implied warranties of fitness or suitability (which I forgot was even a topic) / mortgages / and deeds. It was so bad lol

Mine was also joint tenancy and restraint of alienation. Felt way too easy to be honest, and I did it in like 30 minutes but still seemed to hit all the issues in the model (except for describing that the initial grantor had fee simple absolute--because why would I?...)

Haven't gotten it graded yet, but think it will go well.

In terms of general progress I'm a bit behind (just finished Torts lectures) but feeling pretty confident. Last few contracts I'm at about 75-80%, property about 70%, and the first torts I got 70%.

I don't write out the essays though, just a very rough outline (in about 5 minutes).

I had the same one! I thought I did okay until I saw the sample answer lol ... definitely felt like there was stuff I don't remember being covered (unless it was buried in that massive 90 page outline...)

Are we supposed to do the essays without looking anywhere? I did my first one on contracts yesterday under exam conditions: timed and no reference but was wondering. Please help!

Haha yes. I had the same essay. Got a 4 on the contracts essay and then got a .7 (rounded to a 1) on this property one. I just couldn’t spot the right issues for the first sub-question that was about contracts and the fact that the last question turned on the type of deed. Oh well. It stops me from getting cocky I suppose.

I'm trying not to be concerned about the graded essays. I'm routinely above 80% on MBE questions but I scored 3/6 on the contracts essay and 2/6 on the real property one.

Did anyone else get completely wrecked on the last property question set (set 6)? Have been feeling good for MC up until this. Dont know if I just have already forgotten the rules or this question set was just harder

Dude, same here. I feel like it's a mix of both. I also dropped 15% on my last contract set and I didn't think those questions were particularly difficult so I'm just taking this as a sign to spend my afternoon flashcarding.

I'm pretty sure the graded essay grades are garbage.

I hit almost every issue on my contracts graded essay. Got a 60/100.

I missed almost every issue on my torts graded essay. Got a 60/100.

I'm pretty sure they just give you a barely failing grade every time.

Does anyone have a reliable quizlet flashcard set for each MBE topic? Im not the type that learns from doing them but rather just reading and memorizing. If anyone has a good set they know are accurate as far as the law please let me know.

I'm doing mine very limited open book (i.e. printing out Ide-Don's essay workshop handout and only glancing at the headings to make sure I don't miss anything).

I'm taking TX. I cannot read the outlines, I don't have the time for that.
Federal job, kids, husband, house and bar. I'm dying.
same hustle: hubs, toddler, pregnant and throwing up like crazy, moving to a new house in two weeks plus so much more going on. I feel you. We have thrice the struggle.

Does anyone know if we are able to do the practice exam late or is it only tomorrow? I assume it's okay to do it late (I still have to work on torts) since graded essays can be late, but I wanted to check.

You can do it whenever. It says in the message that you should put it off until you've done all the readings and lectures for Contracts/Property/Torts.

Thank you! I think I skimmed the message when it was sent but forgot about it. That is really helpful!

Out of curiosity, do anyone know if we lose points on the graded essays if we go over the time limit?

Hi guys, I am a few days behind but trying to catch up and maybe get ahead (unlikely but worth a try lol). Do any of you have the torts and remedies handouts filled out? I would much rather just fill in the blanks without hearing the boring lecturer and avoid wasting precious hours and brain power watching videos that drag on.

Nope. I also don't think they actually grade the essays and just give you a barely failing grade to motivate you to study harder.

What's considered "barely failing?" I got 17% on my property essay, even worse than contracts. But in then some of the comments say that I'm making the right arguments, and at the end they say "Your response was great, but be cognizant of how you go on time limits." I'm not sure if the particular person grading my essay decided to ding me points for going over the time limit, or if there was an error at some point, or if I just completely bombed. But if I got literally everything wrong to warrant such a low score, they need to make that clearer in the comments, rather than telling me I made "great" arguments.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
