The application instructions are just instructions they don’t replace an admistative order waiving the fees. If you read the DCCA administrative orders every year there is an order granted to waive the fees. The point I was trying to make is that in previous years the order is posted and then 10 days later the exam results are posted and since they still haven’t posted the administrative orders to waive the fees for this year I am hoping that’s not an indication that our results are not coming this week.

You're right, went back and checked , there's a 'late fee waiver' Order every year... I do, however, still believe the the results will come out this Friday so either they will post an Order soon or there won't be one this year, who knows? Things change...

Yeah, I looked at the dates (https://www.excellenceinlawschool.com/w ... -released/) and the orders (https://www.dccourts.gov/court-of-appea ... ive-orders) and there's little correspondence between date of order and date of results release. One year the order was back on March 29; a few years, the order and the results were released the same week. So, I think there's no real sense in twisting ourselves up in logic knots trying to figure out the secret code of DC because clearly there isn't one--it's just whenever they get to it, they get to it.

How long would it take to complete grading? MBE will not take a long time probably... Let's say it takes 1 hour for examiner to elvaluate 1 MEE question, and there are only 2 examiners in DC bar. In one working day of 8 hours, they will complete 16 per day, and 80 per a week of 5 working days accordingly. In 10 weeks, they might complete 800 MEE evaluations. Any opinion?

They keep on saying results will be released mid-May.

If I knew DC would take so long, I would have taken the exam in another UBE jurisdiction.

NY has ten times more applicants than DC but still manages to release result in a reasonable time.

This is frustrating!

I have a colleague who grades the Texas Bar Exam and she said the grading is not the issue its actually the re-scoring for people who fall within 1 standard deviation of the passing score. I guess there is a specific amount of points lets say 2.3 for the MEE where if you get a 130.7 to 135.3, they have to regrade because you are so close (reliability). She did describe the grading policy for essays as a cursory view where she only spends about 1 -2 min per essay. This blew my mind.
My speculation is in that amount of time all you can look for is heading with issue, decent rule statement and then see if the analysis has some of the facts in it and then move on.

I feel your frustration. I am rethinking the Sanctions essay over and over in my head. As each day goes by I get more and more frustrated thinking about points I left behind.

I've already passed the DC Bar, but there was a Sanctions essay? I did not know Sanctions was an MEE topic.

Caught me off guard... i mean apart from defining what sanctions are, rule 11 n who it applies to, what else does one really write? I wrote alot of jibberish on this one sadly...

I got a 155 on MEE and can 100% say that I literally wrote "Sanctions are entirely at the courts discretion. The court can levy sanctions on the party, the attorney, or both. They can also require the party pay the court or the other party, disbar a lawyer, have the lawyer pay the clerk of court a fine, require attorney to take a class, etc."

Beyond that, I just went on and on about what they did wrong in the facts and then made up who should pay who and explained why. Was a real surprise and I legit had zero idea of the correct legal rule (below).

The correct "Rule" is below when I went back and found it in my notes. Again, I 100% did not write a single thing of the rule just generally discussed the essence of the rule and the discretion of the court.

All papers must be signed by an attorney, and certify that:
1) not being presented for any improper purpose;
2) legal contentions are warranted and non-frivolous;
3) factual contentions have evidentiary support or will after discovery; AND
4) denials of factual contentions are warranted.

The court may issue sanctions (by motion or on its own) for failure to comply with Rule 11.

Federal rules of civil procedure

Does anyone know what the right answer was for that question? Are we allowed to talk about that?

The DC CoA, the DC Bar, and the application sites are all up and functioning now and look normal to me. At least, they look like they did earlier today. So we keep waiting.

Thanks for the feedback and thats a good score on the MEE. I legitimately remembered and was able to recite the rule but the facts did not seem to apply squarely to the rule on sanctions. That was the issue I was having. I kept asking myself "isnt this all up to the court anyway?" I felt like I was writing a lot of "the court COULD"

I did this AND wrote "Rule 10" instead of "Rule 11." Ended up with a 135 on the MEE and the Civ Pro essay was one of my better, if not best, ones. Keep the faith.
