hellojd wrote:Apologies if there was already a consensus on this, but couldn't find it earlier in the thread. What is the MBE % needed for passing (assuming average scores on essay and MPT)? BARBRI lists out average scores for the program on each set which hover around 60-65%, but also says in several spots you don't need that score to pass... so a little confused about the "real" percentage needed typically on the actual bar to pass on the MBE portion.
I've been relying on this:

Would be super glad if someone could confirm or point to a more reliable resource.

NY Bar security policy "NO newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, prayer books or any other written material."

I guess if I'm praying during the exam , it's probably too late anyway

Does anyone know if parking at the testing location in Albany is free or not?

Here are the options (all fee-based) I found:

Empire State Plaza: http://www.ogs.ny.gov/BU/BA/Parking/Visitor/
Times Union: http://www.timesunioncenter-albany.com/ ... o/parking/

BOLE might provide further information when tickets are issued. But I don't think they're willing to provide free parking at any of the sites.

Can someone who has already taken the NYLE give some information about the administration of the online test on test day?

I am trying to book travel plans for later that afternoon/evening on August 18. Wanted to know how long the test takes and if you are able to simply complete it whenever you want on that date, ie, if it is a 2 hour exam, can you just wake up at 8 AM on August 18 and complete it then, or is there some other timeframe?

THanks for any info!

Unless they've changed something, it starts promptly at noon eastern. I think there was like a five minute window or something like that, but no you can't take it whenever you want.

Great, thanks. I will be taking it out in California. Did you know anyone taking it outside of EST? I'm hoping/guessing they then just do it at 9 AM? But i guess no later than 12 PST if they were wed to that time. But that should be cool.

Does anyone know how spacious the desks are at the Buffalo testing location? My registered laptop's internal keyboard isn't working very well so I'm planning to use a USB keyboard if the desks are big enough.

What if you have a spotty internet connection at home? Do you know what happens if you get disconnected? Will it automatically reconnect once the wifi is working again? But would you lose time on the clock? Thanks!

It's through examsoft, so I think you need to only be online to upload it, but I'm not sure.

Yes.

I passed last february, you don't need any internet connection to take the exam since you already downloaded the files a couple of weeks before via examsoft.

On the exam day, the proctor will give you a password that will unlock the files.

Then, after the exam, if your center does not have the wifi ON (like mine in Albany), you just go home to upload the files (you literally have to click on one button).

So basically, don't lose your laptop on the way home otherwise you just have to pray that the guy who finds it will upload your precious essays.

Good luck everyone, i'm a LLM whose native language isn't english (and im not the very best in English  ) and I passed so i'm sure most of you will be fine.

Last year ticket information was sent in an email dated July 14. So definitely this week.

I heard tickets are going out Weds or Thurs of this week. Matters most for Albany folks who don't have their seat assignments yet.

Does anyone have a course recommendation? I was very impressed with Pieper, but they're new to the UBE.

@myrtlewinston, I took a Kaplan class and really liked it. I know their classes can be "commercialized" a bit, but I found they explain their stuff really well and have great materials, especially if u have to cram like me lol

Pre-ordering - http://www.customgourmetny.com/javits-center-manhattan/

One less thing to worry about.

And in case people from other testing sites were unaware of these options, all the pre-order links are on this page - https://www.nybarexam.org/ExamSites/ExamSites.htm
