I passed but I am curious about my essay grades. For anyone who has purchased the UBE unofficial transcript, does the score transcript provide you with your essay scores or does it just simple tell you your MBE score? If it just repeats what I got in my pass letter then I would rather not waste $25. Thanks so much!

Congrats to all those who passed and thank you to everyone in this forum! You made the wait bearable!

I requested it. They're still processing it. Will let you know if it gives me everything. Not just MBE

I took the NYLE in May and the MPRE the March before that and passed with a high enough score for NY. A little worried...

Did you send in the LS certificate?

I cant find the page now, but it was here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160413104 ... be-j16.php

states like CT give you a 1, 2,3,4 and so on for each essay score and then there is a rubric of what that means. I thought NY would do this also, but the NY essay scores are not integers.

EDIT: This is what I am talking about:
http://www.wsba.org/~/media/Files/Licen ... dards.ashx

I thought we would get a 1 ,2, 3, 4, 5, 6 for each essay, not a number between 20-80

NY essays were graded on a 1-6 scale.

But is there a place where people are seeing their own essay scores (on whatever scale)?

WARNING

If you order the transcript from NCBE you only get your TOTAL written score, not a break down of all your essays.

Does it give you your breakdown of MEE vs. MPT?

Is there a set date for the First Division admission ceremony? I was in the Third Division but changed addresses and ended up in the 1st. Do they just set individual admission ceremony dates for groups of applicants based on when you send in your application materials?

^Same Q as above.

For future people who stumble upon this: don't update your address. It's better to stay in Third.

Why? One negative, at least, is that the interview/swearing-in is in Albany.

I was told 3d Dep't processes apps faster due to fewer people. Apparently the thoroughly investigate you. If you have DWI's, you better have answers.

Did you send in the LS certificate?

Yes, I did. I actually called but forgot to update the thread. My bad :/

They said that they had not paired up my March MPRE score with my account in the system and that they will be generating certification letters again next week, which is when I'll get a corrected letter. I was actually surprised at how quick I got it fixed. The lady said she would look into it at 9am and it was done by 10am. Didn't even have to send her the letter.

So other people who took the MPRE in March and got the bit certified letter I recommend calling them so you can get certified ASAP. I sent in my C&F package last week so hoping I'll get sworn in during the next go around!

After a stressfully week, I have accepted this morning I failed the NY Bar...

Any advice to improve the MBE? It's recommended to retake it next February or wait until next summer? As I need just one bar for fed law, any advice about remaining in NY or move to another state? Thanks.

I recommend Adaptibar & Seperac. I passed the bar on my third try. My first two attempts, the MBE was stagnant around 126. The third attempt, I used Adaptibar & Seperac and my MBE shot up to 137. I took J15, F16, and J16. Just keep trying. I'd say that passing the UBE would give you more options (since the minimum passing score ranges from 260-280 if I remember correctly) than moving to another state. If it doesn't work in NY, maybe you passed in another UBE jurisdiction and you can just transfer your score there.

just curious - anyone what the average written score was? Even though I passed, I'm certain I bombed the written portion and want to confirm/deny. I got a 308 total and a 152.7 MBE, so I guess that makes my scaled written 155.3? is that like, horrendous? is that even how you do the math?

I mean if you got a 133 on each section that would be passing. So assuming you did average on the other section, neither of your scores were enough to fail on their own.

I highly recommend the Emmanuel's strategies and tactics book. I took Barbri this summer and struggled immensely with the MBE to start. This book, however, did such a great job of explaining the law and giving you tips on how to tackle certain types of questions. The book has hundreds of practice questions with very detailed explanations. Again would highly recommend for anyone wanting to raise their MBE score.
