Property Bro does Texas Trusts also... which is interesting, considering he is a professor at ASU Law. I'm not complaining though. I suppose for the smaller topics, choosing speakers is like drawing lots for the Health teacher among high school coaches.xdeuceswild81xx wrote:Property bro is the nuts. I think he's pretty funny, he says most of the fill in blanks twice, like "Affirmative waste, affirmative waste" and he's concise in terms of his examples.
Sounds like torts dude really sucks though, so that's something to look forward to

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2016
Feeling tired and a bit discouraged tonight. I'm a little behind on the schedule and I can feel myself getting worked up. I'm trying to be forgiving of myself and not be too hard on myself, especially because this is the first week and I'm getting into the swing of things and establishing a routine that works for me.
Also, my energy is depleted right now, and it's really affecting my focus. Super frustrated about that.
Anyway, sorry for the whining. It's been a long day and I'm sitting here trying to muster up more energy to work tonight even though it's getting late.
Sending good vibes everyone's way!

Found a mystical treat today at the local grocer: Nicotine Toothpicks. You may be thinking..that's gross AF, but hey, it could be that special something that gets you through the tail-end of reading on a late night.

My first was about a boat too.Easy-E wrote:Just did the first K's practice essay. So, apparently the lectures do NOT cover everything. Literally missed a whole question because of it. Got the other two very close to the sample answer, so I guess that's good enough, but still, shit. Really don't feel like combing through those outlines.
Also, are we assigned random practice essays? My first one was related to a boat.

I guess they are random. My first practice was about a fire and saving a dog.bobbypin wrote:My first was about a boat too.Easy-E wrote:Just did the first K's practice essay. Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2016
Just thought I'd share a bit of advice. I took Themis last year and passed.
The best thing I did was create a spreadsheet for the MBE questions I missed. One column had the type of question the other had the Themis rule statement that applied to the question I missed. I would look over it every night after finishing the daily schedule.
It really helped me internalize the rule statements to the question types that I was getting wrong. After all, if you got the question right you generally know the rule statement. You really need to spend time memorizing the things that you got wrong.

Where did you obtain the rule statement? From the explanation? I've been tracking the type of questions I get wrong, but haven't been doing the rule statement thing. That seems helpful!kiwi4president wrote:Just thought I'd share a bit of advice. I took Themis last year and passed.

Yeah just from the explanations. Often they weren't the best rule statements so sometimes I had to adapt the explanation into a rule statement. It really was the best thing I did to prepare for the MBE other than practice questions.Nebby wrote:Where did you obtain the rule statement? From the explanation? Did anyone feel like some of the Torts MBE questions (UBE state) were incredibly subjective and didn't offer enough of an explanation as to why some answers were wrong?

Just submitted my first Graded Essay for Contracts. I felt *okay* with it but looking at the sample answer it looks like they focused on a related issue that I did not focus on. I wonder how the grade will turn out :-\
Did anyone else get the one about the conservatory needing an organ serviced and purchasing a new organ? Can we trade what we wrote?

I got the same hypo. I'm game to trade. I've already received mine back from the grader. I'd love to see what your grader says too.Nebby wrote:Just submitted my first Graded Essay for Contracts. Okay. Do you want me to wait until I get the grader's response and then send it? I can do it via pm. I should have a response by COB Monday or Tuesday (I don't think the two day wait period counts weekends)bobbypin wrote:I got the same hypo. I'm game to trade. I'm falling behind too - going to try to catch up this weekend, especially since Monday is technically and off day, but not for me, I guess. I can't keep studying late - I was up half the night having bad dreams about who owned blackacre.Mayakovsky wrote:Feeling tired and a bit discouraged tonight. What else are y'all doing this summer? When do you start studying? I start bar prep around 9:00amVantwins wrote:I'm falling behind too - going to try to catch up this weekend, especially since Monday is technically and off day, but not for me, I guess. Not really doing anything else. I have a few social commitments lined up so I don't lose my mind. I probably start around 9am on average as well.Nebby wrote:What else are y'all doing this summer? When do you start studying? I start bar prep around 9:00am

I'm not doing much else either besides exercising. I start around 10 or 11a depending on how late I was up reading the night before, but I work past 5.Nebby wrote: What else are y'all doing this summer? When do you start studying? I start bar prep around 9:00am

I've been able to follow this schedule pretty much exactly for the past 2 weeks:What else are y'all doing this summer? When do you start studying? I start bar prep around 9:00am
6am: wake up, eat breakfast
6:30am: dick around on computer while drink coffee
7am: start study. If its lecture, I lecture then make flash cards. If not lecture, I review flash cards for the subject for essay or PQs.
11am: exercise and take shower.
12pm: start studying again. finish flash cards, or do practice questions, or review flash cards.
I'll usually stop studying around 4 or 5.
I am doing nothing else this summer, except for minor family stuff.

The tip about the right answer always being the one with "reasonably" or "foreseeable" in MBE Torts questions is dead on, like almost 100% of time. Good tip from the Drexel porn emailing professor.

I missed a PQ in contracts because I followed this rule hahaFivedham wrote:The tip about the right answer always being the one with "reasonably" or "foreseeable" in MBE Torts questions is dead on, like almost 100% of time. Good tip from the Drexel porn emailing professor.

I'm kinda happy they started with K's first. I personally feel like property is a little more straightforward and easier to follow. In other news, I started a week after the recommended start date and have been able make up enough time to only be behind by 4 days now instead of 7. I feel like a complete goober, but I am really enjoying bar prep thus far. I didn't learn shit in my 1L K's class and it's cool learning all of this material, even though I'll likely never need it in practice

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2016
I start about 9:30am. I teach aerobics and yoga at the gym a few hours a week (I'll sub out my classes in July, but probably still go to the gym once a day). And I've got three children, which makes this much trickier than when I studied for VA right after law school! But they've got school/camp and I've got a college sitter helping out a lot. We are going to be eating a LOT of pizza and take out this summer! My husband is a partner at Dentons in DC and we don't see him much during the week, but he's got kid duty tonight through Monday night! I'm finding enough time to watch videos and take practice tests, I'm just already nervous that I'm not straight memorizing enough.
Take a little time to enjoy the holiday weekend, we'll be way more stressed July 4th!!
