I just did it this week. I let the NY lectures run on a different browser on mute while listening to my bar prep lectures, then come back to it to answer the question at the end of each segment. Ctrl+F the outline for the answers to the questions. It's not a useful method for learning, but I'll study a bit after the bar exam.
This would be a tremendous waste of your time.
Care to elaborate? Are you saying because the exam is so easy? I went to law school outside of NY so was not taught any NY-specific law. I know it's open book, but I can't look up (or Ctrl+F) 100 questions on a 120 minute exam. I'm not talking spending days on end studying, but at least becoming somewhat acquainted with the outline.
Yes you can look it up. Also, it isn't 100 questions, just 50 I think. And you only need to get 30 right. So you need to successfully look up 30 questions in 2 hours. Several posters here looked up every question and finished like an half hour early.
This is assuming they don't chnge anything, but I assume pass rates had to have been well over 90%

Ah, you're correct - it is 50 questions, not 100. That changes things quite a bit. I knew it was a 60% to pass, but for some reason I had 60/100 needed in my head.

I wouldn't spend time memorizing. The questions are almost verbatim from the outline. It doesn't consist of fact patterns that require application, it just tests if you know what the rule is. I took it in May and passed. Looked up every single question and finished with about 45 minutes to spare.

100% BUT ONLY because you can literally look up the damn answers, either on another computer or on your own computer (Examsoft was not locked). I am wondering if for future administrations of the NYLE they will make the Course Materials available via PDF. Good thing I got it out of the way.

Far easier, in its current form.
Literally all you need to know is how to ctrl-f. I guess you need to know enough to figure out a good term, but that's it.
Scooped.

Yeah, the only thing I'd add is that sometimes the questions will ask "Can you bring this case?" and the outline is phrased as "Yes, if X,Y,Z" and then the correct MC answer is "No, unless X,Y,Z."
But I really wouldn't worry about it.

If you are really worried about it, you can do the practice questions that they released and see if you can do them using control+F in the suggested time (~2 min/question).
Glad we got the transition year for the NYLE. I cant imagine it will continue to be as easy as 'control+F' for very long.

That plus the whole salary thing, plus the fact that we applied in the trough of law school applicants. Got me feeling glad af.

So good news, I got the videos to work and track my progress, yay!! So I have them playing on mute while I'm doing other stuff. But they are so long. Is there any way to speed them up like we can with Themis lectures so I can be done with them sooner?? Thanks!

You may be able to use a plugin like Chrome's Video Speed Controller but idk for sure

He is right. It would be a tremendous waste of time. I was a le to ctrl f 85% of the questions and finished with 40 minutes to spare. You are better off working on your ctrl f skills then actually studying.

Not all that much. If Barbri tells me to do one, I do one.

We had one so far with Barbri. I was happy with my grade so I may not touch one again. I also did a couple my second semester of 3L with a Kaplan professor.

Yeah I just did a practice one for Themis, but just outlined it. Felt pretty good about my answer would have matched up.

Apologies if there was already a consensus on this, but couldn't find it earlier in the thread. What is the MBE % needed for passing (assuming average scores on essay and MPT)? BARBRI lists out average scores for the program on each set which hover around 60-65%, but also says in several spots you don't need that score to pass... so a little confused about the "real" percentage needed typically on the actual bar to pass on the MBE portion.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
