Do any of you take a day off a week?

I did today and I'm trying not to feel guilty about it.

Yesterday I was doing some MBE questions and got way too many of them incorrect so I told myself I needed to stop and refresh myself after going nearly 7 days without a break.

I just think I need to breathe.

And the essays still freak me out :-/

How you all done all of the graded essays? I've done 4 so far but will hand in the 3 outstanding ones within the following 3 days.

Yes. You should definitely take a day off if you're feeling burnt out. It will do you a lot more good than harm. But please for God's sake get off the internet and stop thinking about the bar. If you're gonna take a day off, do it right 8)

I tried to take a break today, but a parent told me that was unwise, and even though I know they're probably wrong, it just caused the guilt to eat away until about noon, and then I took a bunch of subject-specific questions and got destroyed. Should have taken the entire day off.

I haven't completely taken a day off in a while, but I have taken parts of days off (i.e. slept in til 730- I usually get up by 615 to walk to dog, and when the dog sleeps in, I sleep in. If I feel overwhelmed with MBE questions, I wont do any additional ones, but I will go over the ones I got wrong for an hour or so, and then review notes in that subject, or work on essays/ read MPT answers). If I feel overwhelmed by the essays I just do the same, but read essay answers. Or some days ill wake up early ( like 5am), do work int he morning, ten take the afternoon or evening off.

If you are like me, and you are very type A- if you find yourself fighting whether or not to take time off, then don't, because the point in doing so is to reward yourself for your hard work and rest. you cant rest if you are waging a mental battle between your ears. IF you can take time off and hit the "of button"- then do it. but only you are the best to know what works for you.

Just spent a few hours looking through my very first sets of Property Q's and reading the long outline for the most popularly tested section of Property, Disputes and Ownership in Land (100 of my past 200 MBE property questions have been that section). Reviewing the old questions I got wrong, I have 95% success rate at getting them right now.

I would highly encourage all of you who are stressing about MBE topics to identify what the most commonly wrong areas of the subject are for you, and to read the long outline's section on that topic. At this point in your studying, your eyes won't glaze over like they did a month ago when you see this wall of text. You'll actually be familiar with the terms and how they fit into the tree of a subject, and you'll probably find a lot of interesting minutia that gets tested that you never knew before.

It's really cool to come across a paragraph about a mini-sub-section and be like "Ooooh, that's why I've gotten questions about this point wrong every time."

So, I've spent the past week doing nothing on Themis, just reviewing and flashcarding like crazy. Today, I decide to go back and get a start on my remaining MBE sets and... all of a sudden I don't know anything and I'm having streaks of 5 in a row wrong and the like.

Feelin' good, you betcha.

This! I just randomly hit upon this idea today too and this evening I scored over 80% on a Torts practice set for the first time. Then did the same on a Con Law practice set. If I can actually sustain this, I might just punch my ticket to autopass city...

(FWIW I know barely anything about the MEE topics. Haven't had time to study them. :? )

I have planned to do this (at least the long outline part) for a while and still do after I've reviewed the essay topics and taken the simulated essay exam this week. Glad to hear it worked.

This is pretty accurate! For me, I couldn't get hearsay/hearsay exceptions down so I specifically worked on that area for an afternoon by going through the old questions and specifically focusing on that area of the notes, outlines, lectures, etc. After doing that? I saw a significant uptick in my success rate on the final 2 evidence practice sets and later milestone exams. I went from the mid-40's up into the mid 60's for evidence.

A fun break from studying - this person took Barbri so I'm missing all the references but much of this sounds very similar to the complaints here (which makes me happy I didn't spend an extra $2000 for my bar program).

c) Murder people in the good old-fashioned way. Hey, what’s wrong with just shooting someone? Why do you gotta pour Ex-Lax + arsenic into some poor camper’s soup to sabotage their chances in the tree-climbing competition tomorrow? Oh, you knew there was a small chance it wouldn’t kill them? TOO FUCKING BAD. I don’t care about Murder II, okay? Just own it and take them out execution-style, imbecile.
Mmhm!

The big one they forgot though, which relates to "record your shit":

WRITE SHIT DOWN!!!! Absent a really stupid defendant who admits everything in discovery, PLAINTIFFS DON'T WIN OVER ORAL CONTRACTS, EVER.

How many of you will be at 100% come the start of the bar exam?

I'm aiming for 80%. Maybe even 90% if I'm so lucky; however, given my directed study, 100% seems unlikely if I don't study up until the day of the exam and that isn't gonna happen as I refuse to study the day before the MBE portion. I may read my super condensed outlines but that'll be it.

I loved this. Especially
d) Leave Blackacre to anyone in fee simple. Don’t even fucking talk to me about leaving your shit to Jimmy’s grandchildren on the fucking condition that Paula’s husband opens a stupid oyster restaurant in 30 years. Wanker. Nobody wants Blackacre. It’s shitty. AND full of mortgages. AND easements. So fuck you.

My schedule shows me on course to finish 100% about 2-3 days before the exam. I'm in the UBE -- easiest jurisdiction with minimal essay material to memorize, no essay topic-specific workshop videos, and on top of that I started a week early and have stopped taking weekends off. So, if that doesn't substantially describe your situation, I wouldn't freak out.

The state director said to aim to complete 80% of the course - for MA - and that we should "pass" once we get there so I'm not super concerned ... but it's interesting it's above the 75% Themis mark albeit by 5%.

I'm currently at 73%, and my schedule has me finishing 100% the day before the NY exam. I don't think I'll be studying the day before. If anything, I'll do a minimal read over of my notes. I did switch to flex study a few weeks ago as I wanted to get the rest of the lectures out of the way and start being able to just study everything I've learned rather than learning new subjects up until two weeks before the bar. I need to do more practice essays, so I think I'll reach at least 80%. I also still haven't done one of the graded essays.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
