You're so close. Do not give up. Is this your highest score yet? If so, I bet some of the increase is attributable to the UBE. Definitely give the UBE another shot, because your experience with it is worth more than 4 points.HoneyPot wrote:Failed. 262. It's the MBE that got me: 124

Re: NY July 2016 Thread
From NYLJ:
The New York State Board of Law Examiners has released the names of the applicants who passed the July 2016 bar examination.
Of the 10,297 who sat for the July exam, 6,570 passed the test, for a passage rate of about 64 percent.
For first-time text takers who graduated from American Bar Associated accredited law schools, the passage rate was 83 percent, according to the Board of Law Examiners. That is up from the 79 percent who passed last year's July exam and on par with the 83 percent who passed the 2014 test.
This was the first group of applicants in New York to take the Uniform Bar Exam, which has been adopted in 15 other states. The new test included two state-specific components that will be administered online: a "New York Law Course" and a 50-question multiple choice test.

Passed with a 296 (142.9 MBE)
Can share a bit of advice RE: scheduling and sources with (and probably also send materials to) anyone looking or needing to self-study next time around. I had to find a way while working full-time (licensed in TX last year).

340, 168.2. I'm afraid I can't offer much advice on studying outside of some discrete areas.

First post is just to respond to this lol. If this is really what you want to do, don't give up. You were very close to passing. Also, if you're willing to relocate, you did well enough to transfer your score to 5 UBE jurisdictions (Alabama, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota), and who knows, maybe more states will join the UBE in the next several years that only require 260 to pass. Keep your head up!HoneyPot wrote:Failed. 262. It's the MBE that got me: 124

+1! I was worried about failing (this would've been my third time as well) and my plan was to either relocate depending on my score or to take it at least one more time (being a lawyer has been my dream since childhood, so failing has been rough...just know that you can always retake it, so don't give up on yourself)

Don't be defeated. You can do this. For me, it was the MBE that I struggled with. I took Barbri first time around and second. Third time around, I self-studied and bought a massive Kaplan book with hundreds of MBE questions. I did still use the Barbri outlines though from the prep course. I thought Kaplan's questions were much more similar to the actual bar exam questions than Barbri's MBE practice questions.JohnStone wrote:First post is just to respond to this lol. This.
Long time lurker here. I made an account just to post my two cents on this. I've taken the bar exam 4 times and on my 3rd failure (Feb with a 660), I was right where you are. My only advice is to stick with it. It sucks to be this close, but passing the exam (which I just did) will be well worth it. The biggest difference was that I focused much more heavily on the MBE. I can't emphasize how much I wish I had done that in the past.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
