Hello, my fellow TLSrs. I wanted to let you all know that unfortunately I did not pass the July 2015 Indiana Bar Exam on my first attempt.   Based on my calculations, I did well on the MBE (153scaled) Note: Just ordered my score from NCBEX so this is just based on my total score received.) I will repost once I get my score report. The essays were my downfall - I needed at least a 4 on two of my essays and I received 2s'. So I will retake in February 2016.

I self-studied, I used Bar-Bri materials and Strategies and Tactics. I took two full-length bar exams - First, BarBri raw score 112 and then the second exam I used Strategies and Tactics and received a 117 after that I was consistently scoring 70-75 questions right for the 100 question sets. In Indiana, the essays are strictly on Indiana law and I was so focused on the MBE that I did not spend enough time on Indiana law.

I'm sorry to hear that. Your MBE score is very good though. You're clearly capable. I'm sure you'll pass in February!

Sorry to hear, bro. Hang in there. This test is just a test and doesn't really speak to your true skill. Like you said, you didn't concentrate as much in state law. I'm sure you'll do that next time and you'll pass with flying colors. Good luck!

Passed WA (UBE) with a 157.4 MBE and 164.9 essays, rounded down to 322 total. Its hard to tell because they don't give you the raw score on the MBE, but I'm guessing I performed worse on the MBE than I did on the final barbri mixed sets. I started off barbri testing at around 72% correct, hit 74% on the midterm, and did my "final test" in emmanuel, getting over 80%. I'd hit random emmanuel sections like torts with 90% correct. It's hard to tell because of the scaled score, but I doubt I got over 72% on the real MBE. It feels like I wasted a lot of time doing MBE questions if I just ended up getting 72% correct anyway.

My essay score surprised me. I didn't practice more than 2 essays per subject. Only did 1 full MPT, and looked at / outlined some others.

Like everyone else, I left the MBE feeling like I failed. AM portion was brutal, PM was okay. I was half asleep for the AM portion of the exam (never woke up earlier than noon during bar study), which probably hurt.

FYI, for Washington: pass rate declined slightly from 77% last july to 75% this july. Link to results: http://www.wsba.org/~/media/Files/Licen ... Stats.ashx

I'm not talking about just over-thinking stuff and worrying myself for no reason--I mean that I legitimately had to guess (as in not even having time to read) a total of 20-25 of the questions. I'd say there were another 40-45 that I had marked to come back to (because I was really fucking confused by them) that I didn't have time to review. For the other 130? I felt confident about maybe half of them. I had a meltdown over lunch.

I think my saving grace was that I think I killed the MPT and did pretty well on the essays (though note that I didn't even have time to finish the last essay question).

I know it all varies by jurisdiction and my state (Iowa) seems to be easier than most, but I just thought I'd post this to try to reassure you guys that, despite things feeling hopeless, you may well be pleasantly surprised.
This makes me feel a little better. :D
I also had to rush through some questions towards the end in the am. If it makes anyone feel better, one of my friends told me that a girl next to her left 10 questions completely blank.

Just want to 2nd this. A 153 on the MBE is great.

My biggest hurdle studying for the CBX was transitioning from MBE subjects to state subjects, where CA tests a stupid amount of material. Thankfully there is a 50/50 split for MBE/state subjects in most exams.

I did one full length 200 question MBE test once every two weeks leading up to the cbx. the last 3 I got 78%, 78%, and 82% of the 200 questions correct. 2 were barbri (including the one I got 82%) and one was some random company im not even sure I knew their name. Looks like this will get me over the hurdle even if I fail every essay. good. keep postin
I'm in a similar place.
The NCBE mock exams I did I was scoring 77, 83, 73, and 80 from memory.
But they don't include Civ Pro which was by far my weakest subject.

I'm hoping I made up enough in the other subjects to get me across the line.
I hate how they added civ pro. my practice exams had it.- and believe it or not, the barbri one I got 82% on, about 75% of those i got WRONG were civ pro questions.

so because your exams didnt have civ pro- perhaps our situations are slightly different. id be curious to see.

my essays were consistent 70's near the end. but i didnt do that many- I just did them periodically to see where I was at. I used baressays.com and paid them to grade my essays on a per essay basis- so i did 1 essay about once a week and the remainder of the time i would just memorize the baressays.com model answers. the scores were increasing each week pretty consistently.

i did one PT for grading the entire bar review, and i did it 4 days before the bar and i got a 65. But i submitted my four failed PT's from prior years for grading so its almost like i submitted 5 total for feedback.

sorry if TMI.

Just took the Indiana Bar and I passed. For those of you waiting, I'd like to tell you that I thought I bombed the MBE. I had that string of D's, but I felt like I was guessing on every other question. But I still managed to pass. I'm requesting my score through NCBE, so when I have it, I'll be sure to post it. You are going to do better than you think!

Passed in WA (UBE)!! :D 157.4 scaled MBE / 137 essays.

Definitely felt like the MBE was difficult when I walked out. But I felt really similar to the way I felt after the Emanuel 200, which I got a 153 raw on.

I used Barbri, and got a 118 on the midterm, and a 67 on the 100 q "Refresher." I think I remember the AM being more difficult than the PM, but I couldn't really tell ya. I definitely had a long string of D's in the AM. I will note that I didn't finish either section. I ran out of time and had to randomly bubble in approx 3-4 questions on both sessions.

Hope this is useful to people! And good luck to those still waiting.

Sorry to hear it -- were you able to confirm that your MBE was 153? Do they give you your essay score in Indiana?

Yes. Your results are posted to your user homepage and it gives you your total score and then they break down each one of your essays scores that you receive In Indiana your Indiana essays and MPT are graded on a scale of 1-6 just based on my total score and the weight of each essay I calculate my MBE score.

Unfortunately, in Indiana they do not provide your MBE score so I had to pay $25 to obtain my score. When I receive the score report which should be next week. I will post.

I remember the string of Ds but I only noticed that in the PM section. I noticed a pattern of Bs and Ds. I didn't pay attention to patterns in the AM session. For me, I thought the AM section was slightly easier than the PM. Did any else have a similar experience?

I took Themis. If you can tell from my previous posts, I felt like crap walking out of it. Mostly the MBE felt awful, and I got sick during the afternoon session but powered through it because I had to.

UBE state. Can't disclose more because I will be outed.

I don't have actually MBE scores but will update as soon as I get them.
I passed with a 148 in the MBE. Can't see my essay scores, which is ever so slightly disappointing because I feel certain I did better on that versus the MBE and I was legitimately curious. But I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter nor will it matter ever again.

Congrats to those who have heard. And to those waiting, hang in there!

I am here to say that it is now demonstrably possible to pass the New Mexico bar exam without doing more than 25 property mbe practice questions.

I passed. The overall pass rate was down to 72% this year, which is really unusual. I got a 135 on the MBE. I must have killed the essays. I would have liked to pass with more margin but whatever, I did it! Congrats to everyone who passed. A lot of smart people failed the bar in my state this time around. I am convinced there is a huge element of luck to this whole bar exam process.

Congrats to everyone who passed! I studied for the Washington bar using Barbri and passed with a total UBE score of 314 (167.59 MBE/146.19 written). I was testing in about the 82nd percentile on Barbri MBE practice tests. After taking the MBE I felt AWFUL, but I guess I fared pretty well!

Hi I am trying to find out your grade on each individual Essay? or your average grade out of 10 on the essay portion of the exam?
How much should an applicant get out of 10 to pass? I got 7/10 on all essays and I was told I failed the essay portion. I am thinking of filing an appeal but I need to have as much info possible before I file an appeal.

LoboLaw, yes the 153 MBE is just my rough calculation based on my total score and the weight of my essay scores. Unfortunately, in Indiana you have to order your MBE score so once I receive my score report, I will post my actual score.

In Indiana, the MBE is worth 50%, IEE is worth 30% and the MPT is worth 20%. So you will need to score at least 3s and 4s on your essays to pass unless you kill the MBE. Those 2s were my downfall and I received those on subjects that I glossed over because based on past exams, those subjects were infrequently tested so there goes that theory out the door. At least on the July 2015 bar exam for Indiana.

Passed the UBE in Montana!!! My passing letter only reports my overall UBE score which was a 310.

Does anyone know if I order the UBE Score transcript from NCBE will it give me a break down of my MBE, MEE & MPT score? Or would it just provide me with my overall UBE score again? If so, then I'll just order my MBE score and deduce what I got on the MEE/MPT portion.

I took Barbri, got a 150/200 on the midterm and a 72/100 on the final. I thought the MBE was super difficult (much harder than Barbri practice Qs) and literally cried in my car during the break between the AM & PM sessions. I felt like I was guessing between 2 "right answers" for the majority of the exam. So frustrating!! I was shocked by the amount of weird nuances tested in certain areas. It seemed like there were multiple questions on the same narrow topics...especially in the AM session.

However, I must have done pretty well on the MBE because I ran out of time on the last two MEE essays (I probably had time to get 2 paragraphs down for #5 and like 3 sentences for #6) so I doubt my MEE score could have been too helpful. While I felt good about the MPT, because I thought I bombed the MEE due to the timing issue, for the past 2 months I have been convinced that the only way I would pass the exam would be if I dominated the MBE. But who knows how my score really shook out. I will report back with my MBE score once I get it from the NCBE.

I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Even though this is my first post, I can't tell you how much of a support system everyone here has been for me during the excruciating wait for my results to arrive in the mail. I would browse these posts pretty much everyday and everyone's stats and overall positive attitude made all the difference for me when I felt like no one could possibly understand all of the neurotic analysis running through my head.

Passed with a 152 MBE and 170 on the essays for a total of 322. I'll PM my state later because I don't want to make it public. I was a Kaplan taker, and I got a 124/200 on the midterm and a 132/200 on the final IIRC.

It's finally over. Glad to be done. The hardest part was the wait.

I don't mean this in a snobby way whatsoever, but are any other Cali people not too comforted by any of these passing scores from jurisdictions with 65-85% pass rates?
