I wonder about how significantly this actually applies -- e.g., could you do it for the majority of an essay and still get a 5?Stringer6 wrote:My Torts lecturer said he didn't know the no-fault liability scheme for NY on the exam…so he made one up and applied it to the facts. a system where you have to give people points for making up law because they test you in a way totally unhinged from what real legal practice is like probably should be reformed

Has anyone looked into/heard anything about whether there are sufficient plug outlets at the Albany locations? My computer won't last more than about 2.5 hours so I am very worried about this.

I'm preparing myself to have to deal with a dying battery and will be pleasantly surprised if there are enough outlets... its kinda like going to the DMV- where you expect to spend the entire day waiting in line, and when you find out you only have to spend an hour and a half- you are happy and walk out happyPennBull wrote:No reason the test centers didn't think about that alreadyshock259 wrote:Oh god. Re: July 2014 New York Bar Exam
Its definitely happened recently. I read on a post here that in CA last year there were about 500 test takers at one location who had to hand write because there weren't power outlets and I've heard word of mouth that its also a problem at Javits. I haven't heard anything about Albany, though, so I wanted to see if anyone had any information on this.PennBull wrote:No reason the test centers didn't think about that alreadyshock259 wrote:Oh god. So, the clearly important bar question. Are the food options around the Times Union Center site in Albany so dire that it's worth pre-ordering a $10 sammich through Aramark with that form we got by email? I'm 99% certain they will be barely edible and there will be a long line anyway to pick up your food.

I'm wondering this as well. I think when we had our Barbri simulated test at the javits center, I think the guy said you can bring your lunch, it just needs to be in saran wrap or something. If thats the case, I just plan on bringing a cheese sandwich or something and a few snacks. But I'd like to know the definite answer because if I can't bring in the sandwich, I'm going to be screwed.bendurnotes4me wrote:We're allowed to bring our own food right?Lawst wrote:So, the clearly important bar question. Similar question for Buffalo takers--am I effed if I don't get the boxed lunch? How hard will it be to get a seat at a random restaurant near the testing center?JenDarby wrote:I am just buying the overpriced lunch that they deliver to Javitz.AJS30 wrote:I'm wondering this as well. Looks like it depends on which site you're taking it. Boxed lunch available at one, but not the other.
Same here. It's expensive and I'm not expecting much in terms of quality, but the convenience of not having to think about it was worth it to me.PennBull wrote:There's plenty of carts and stuff in the area but I just said fuck it, give me the sandwichVulcanVulcanVulcan wrote:Similar question for Buffalo takers--am I effed if I don't get the boxed lunch? Thanks! At Empire State, which doesn't have a boxed lunch option but looks like it has a food court (Subway, ABP, etc).
I might just bring my own food and put it in the bag that I check. I wonder if the bag check lines during lunch will be nuts.

Any one know if there are enough outlets in the buffalo convention centre. I can believe that they would have laptop writing as an option and then not provide you with an outlet!!!
Also how long does it take to get out for lunch? And how long does it take to come back in?

I went back to my hotel room and ate lunch there. I was probably about a 10 min walk away. It was pretty nice to just relax, but you have to be fairly close to do that. It was nice not to have to wait in the bag check or food line. I just left my earplugs in and walked out of the building.

Where does it say you can bring a power strip? Isnt a power strip just an extension. I would still need an outlet!! Its so weird if they expect us to do that!!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
