Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"? I’m not really one to pay attention to what answers I put down, but because most people noticed it (and I didn’t) I’m kinda freaking out.

Wow that is really nice! Congrats!MPTPWZ1026 wrote:Iowa bar results are up today. 91% of first-time takers passed compared to 82% last July. For Iowa law, 58 out of 59 for 98% passed.
Letters are being mailed but I'm unsure whether we release scores, so not sure if we will be able to post stats in the next few days.
My UBE jurisdiction had a 10% dip in pass rates.

I had a string but it wasn't 12-15 in a row like someone suggested.superbloom wrote:Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"? I’m not really one to pay attention to what answers I put down, but because most people noticed it (and I didn’t) I’m kinda freaking out.

Scored 116/200 on the BARBRI midterm but was pretty consistently around 70%-75% by the end on Emmanuals and the BARBRI mixed sets. I had the string of D's in the am but ran out of time and did the last 30 questions in like 10 minutes. I screamed fuck like 100 times in my car eating lunch and then went back in and finished the pm with plenty of time. I don't think we get our actual scores but I really thought I failed until results came out.

I wouldn't get worked up about the string of D's. I believe there are several different versions of the test with the questions in differing orders. Also, you might have have 2 or 3 non-D answers that broke up your string, and 2-3 answers definitely won't make or break your MBE.superbloom wrote:Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"? As an example, my friend told me she didn't notice a string of D's, but she passed comfortably.

Yes I did not have 12-15 straight D's. I think thats assertion is being lost in translation on here lol. I think most are saying they had a row of D's that sprinkled in a random other letter in the AM somewhere. For instance my first 25 question in the Am had anywhere from 15-17 D's... I would have a string of 4 D's then a random C then a B, then another string of 3 D's and a random B, then another 4 D's... Stuff like that. Also out of the first 100 questions in the AM i had more D answer choices than other choices. That right there freaked me out.zot1 wrote:I had a string but it wasn't 12-15 in a row like someone suggested.superbloom wrote:Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"? I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't recall any sort of "string of D's" (though, like you, I'm not really one to notice this sort of thing) and still passed.superbloom wrote:Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"? Based on what I've heard from a few others that had a solid passing score, "No." I've had a few other people reporting in that did well and they did not have a string of "D" answers.superbloom wrote:Is everyone in consensus about the "string of D's"?
This makes sense because there were 10 different versions of the each session's exam handed out, with the questions mixed up in 10 different ways. This means many people could have had questions with longer string's of "D" answer choices, while others would have just had more "D" answer choices overall, but not necessarily back-to-back or in a string.

Again, I just want to reiterate, there were 10 different versions of each session.nyny wrote:Yes I did not have 12-15 straight D's. I think thats assertion is being lost in translation on here lol. I guess the better choice of words would be to say: The consensus suggests "D" was the selected answer approximately 1/3 of the time, and many people had a string of "D" answers as long as 12-15. However, this would not be the case for everyone because there were multiple 'versions' of each section.

I think the only reason it seems like the string of D's is so important is because it was so unusual. But remember that was only for one version of the exam. Everyone else's was likely mundane so they don't remember a detail like that.
I wouldn't sweat it.

I had a lot of Ds in the am session (NY). I didn't count them but it was enough that it was unusual (maybe 25-30 D answers out of the first 60 questions in the am). I'm still waiting on results.

Re: July 2015 MBE Scores/Results
If it's any solace to those still waiting for their score, I passed despite feeling like I absolutely bombed the MBE. I'm not talking about just over-thinking stuff and worrying myself for no reason--I mean that I legitimately had to guess (as in not even having time to read) a total of 20-25 of the questions. I'd say there were another 40-45 that I had marked to come back to (because I was really fucking confused by them) that I didn't have time to review. For the other 130? I felt confident about maybe half of them. I had a meltdown over lunch.
I think my saving grace was that I think I killed the MPT and did pretty well on the essays (though note that I didn't even have time to finish the last essay question).
I know it all varies by jurisdiction and my state (Iowa) seems to be easier than most, but I just thought I'd post this to try to reassure you guys that, despite things feeling hopeless, you may well be pleasantly surprised.

Re: July 2015 MBE Scores/Results
Also, I took Kaplan. Strangely, I don't remember my exact midterm and final scores but I know they were pretty close (slightly above I believe) the average scores for each--which I think were 115 and 120, respectively. We don't have any further information regarding our score breakdown, but I just thought I'd post this to add to the data. And for whatever it's worth, I felt great about the MPT, pretty good about the MEE, awful about the AM MBE, and unsure about the PM MBE.

Trying to decide -- is it worse to know exactly when your score will be released, or to be left in the dark?
First time I took the exam in 2010 was in NC, which is ultrafast. Now I'm waiting for Utah results, which is just a black box of when scores will be released.

For those worried about the string of D's, I don't remember having that at all.
Actually, I never really noticed any sort of pattern at all. I passed. So don't freak out if you didn't see 15 D's in a row either.

I noticed a string of D's towards the end (last column) in the afternoon session, but nowhere as many as others claim. I agree with those who contend there were different versions.MPTPWZ1026 wrote:For those worried about the string of D's, I don't remember having that at all.

I passed comfortably. I wouldn't read too much into anything.

Exactly. I think the only reason it's important to point out is to comfort people who had a long string of "D" answers, but not to say that those that didn't see this trend that they were wrong.Blessedassurance wrote:I noticed a string of D's towards the end (last column) in the afternoon session, but nowhere as many as others claim. I think it's generally a good rule to not read to much into how others did things period.
I finished the essay component quickly. Even the examiner asked if I was sure I wanted to be done already. But even during practice essays, I always finished early. During the lunch chatter, everyone complained that they didn't have time to finish their essays. I passed, and chances are, most of those people passed too.

Kind of off-topic, but does anyone know when CA will post the essay questions? Seems absurd that several states have finished grading, published results, etc., and CA hasn't even posted the essay questions :/

I've heard it's a month or two, but there's never been an actual promised date. I too was waiting for them to post the questions, but I'm not sure if that will make me more or less anxious about getting our results. Apparently barsecrets.com posts a debrief of the essays once the CBX posts the questions online.robinhoodOO wrote:Kind of off-topic, but does anyone know when CA will post the essay questions? I took Wisconsin, and the pass rate is 65%, which is down 5-10% from last year I think
ETA: If it helps, Wisconsin is 50% MBE with 8 essays. The MPT is weighted twice as much as the other essays.
Here's an updated list:
Random Numbers: Course: Barbri; Scaled MBE Score: 153; Was scoring 138’s raw w/Barbri; State: WI
WVU Mountaineer: Course: Kaplan; Scaled MBE Score: 152; Thought MBE was hard as shit; State WV
Topper: Course: Unknown; Scaled MBE Score: 138; State: WI
BuckinghamB: Course: Barbri; Scaled MBE Score: 151; Estimated he guessed on over half of MBE Q’s; State: WI
Also forgot to mention towards the end of my prep course I was about 70th percentile (around 60th for the mid-term). They must have thrown a lot of questions out on the MBE. I'm really shockedoh how I hope that's true.

Not sure if you're asking me, but I think it was like 70-something total points out of 80 possible. I felt fine walking out of the essays, but definitely screwed many things up. I certainly didn't walk out thinking I did as well as I did. Most of the topics were MEE ones, too.lawyerB wrote:zot1 wrote:BuckinghamB wrote:Thanks!robinhoodOO wrote:Congrats, buddy!
