Re: February 2015 Bar Exam
I'm sorry to hear about the results of those who did not pass. I know the exact feeling because I failed the exam twice. However, I kept going and eventually passed the exam, I have a great job and life is good. I fully understand how hard it is to find out you failed. I was torn up over it, I was sad, angry, ashamed, lost confidence, and it made for a realt awkward time socially and in the working environment. To make matters worse, I failed again. This was really difficult to handle too but somehow, I was able to push through and regroup and eventually pass the exam. The feeling of passing after being unsuccessful is amazing. Whoever was unsuccessful on the February 2015 exam, please stick with it. It isn't the end of the world even though momentarily it feels like it is.
If anyone wants to talk to me about failing the exam, dealing with it, and persevering too finally pass and move forward with your career let me know. I'm all ears and will help you deal with it.
To those who pass-- CONGRATS!

Sorry that you did not pass. Michelle Obama failed IL on her first try. JFK Jr failed the New York bar twice before passing. It is not an easy exam.mouse89 wrote:Did not pass IL. Think I'm going to take a sanity break and retake in February, not July. Still in a haze
I passed Illinois on my first try. I was bottom of the barrel of my law school class. I scored below a 150 on the LSAT. My ACT was 18 out of 36. If I can pass, I know you can too. Maybe take a few weeks off, but register for the July exam. We need URM's like you in the legal community.

Apparently they give us the numbers for MBE and MPT/MEE but no further breakdown than that.legal10101 wrote:Holly Golightly wrote:omg I PASSED!

Passed Oklahoma. 2/2 on bar exams (Texas July 2014, Oklahoma Feb 2015). Oklahoma's pass list actually leaked on Wednesday before the official results were released so I had a bit of a heads up. Regardless, nice to make it official.
I think I'm done taking bar exams now.
Good luck to those waiting.

I'm very sorry. I know how devastating it feels. I've failed 9 times in IL. For me, it might be time for a career change.

STFU. You clearly are getting paid to advertise this bs.roxianada wrote:Bar Exam and Law School Outlines - by Jeremy Hanson - on Amazon
Buy this book people. I can't believe most of my MBE answers from PMBR and BarBri are actually in the book itself. This 14-subject outlines book is amazing. Extremely clean and easy to understand and digest. Great job!

Re: February 2015 Bar Exam
I hate to (possibly) be the bearer of bad news, but according to the data released by Illinois, this may be statistically the most difficult exam in modern history, at least by Illinois standards.
In Illinois, your scored is composed of the mbe, worth 200 points, and your essays (mee, Illinois essays, Mpt), also worth 200 points.
A score of 264 is required to pass.
People who scored 260 or below for july 2014 exam (considered one of the worst performing exams ever)= 18%
People who scored 260 or below for Feb. 2015 exam= 31%
That translated to a roughly 67% pass rate for Illinois.
The Illinois Bar Exam has consistently stayed in the mid 80's for their bar passage rate throughout the last 10 years.
I don't know what this means for other states, but at lease it seems for Illinois this exam has been a bloodbath.

Aren't the Feb pass rates always lower though? In MN the rate varies from ~80s in July to ~65 in Feb

Does anyone have a rough idea how BarBri practice scores correlate to the actual MBE?

Re: February 2015 Bar Exam
Congratulations to those who passed! I'm so happy you aren't going to have to do this again! I hope you all got some serious celebrating in this weekend!
I was so negative when I found out and I'm sorry for that. I wish the rest of y'all best of luck when you get the results! I'm going to take July 2015 because f you bar exam-you can't get me down. I have meetings with essay tutors this week-the area I'm weakest in- and am going to get this ball rolling again. I may take a few weeks off though ie. the rest of April. I think the hardest part is talking with people supporting you throughout and having them be disappointed along with you. I feel like I let people down. I think my own disappointment would have been easier to swallow if it was just me.

I think the dropping rates have more to do with the UBE sucking than a decline in student quality.
Two weeks to go for me.

Re: February 2015 Bar Exam
Yeah but doesn't this data have more to do with the fact that the majority of February takers are people who have already failed the bar exam at least once before and are retakers?Bigdoggetit wrote:I hate to (possibly) be the bearer of bad news, but according to the data released by Illinois, this may be statistically the most difficult exam in modern history, at least by Illinois standards.

Re: February 2015 Bar Exam
Sat for and passed the July 2014 Texas Bar Exam on first attempt. Passed the Feb. 2015 Wisconsin Bar Exam on first attempt (I have a breakdown of my scores if anyone is curious). Luckily I was able to transfer my MBE score.
I wasn't someone who graduated from a T1 law school and I didn't graduate at the top of my class. I believe it really comes down study habits and confidence.
For what it's worth, I can't attest to how to fight back from failing the exam but I can certainly attest to what I have done the past 10 months to pass two bar exams back to back so if there is anyone who would like to know I'm glad to help.
