Are the averages in StudySmart the same as in the front of the MPQ book?

I don't think so, since they reflect percentiles that people are actually scoring.Stringer6 wrote:Are the averages in StudySmart the same as in the front of the MPQ book?

Re: Barbri paced program question?
I fluctuate so hard between MBE sets. For example, I was 9/18 on Set 3 and then 15/18 on Set 4 for Crim. Based on the set score goals, the "average" of that BarBri sets as a goal for the book sets are a little over 10 out of 18 on every set (~57%). But the Workshops are a lot easier because they questions are grouped together by subject matter (for example, the Evidence workshop has all of the hearsay stuff grouped together).
Do I fluctuate because the some sets throw in more curveballs, or do I fluctuate because sometimes I guess better than other times? I lean towards the latter.

I fluctuate too. Mainly from 66%-88% (raw) but I had a set at 50%. I think some fluctuation is probably normal. I'm not really worrying about it. I assume I'll score better and more consistent over the next 6 weeks as I continue to study and learn the rules. At the Drive-In wrote:I fluctuate so hard between MBE sets. Realistically, you guys are probably already scoring high enough to pass the bar.

Re: Barbri paced program question?
Yesterday I went from getting 100% on an MPQ (was stoked) to 50%.... I cannot handle these emotional swings lol.
Also, I try to keep in mind these MPQs are supposed to be harder than the average question we will see on the bar (I think).

Any idea how long it takes for Barbri to grade submitted essays? Just submitted the first one today. Thanks!

Mine took 6 days... FYI the grading is a complete joke (or my grader was at least).FutureInLaw wrote:Any idea how long it takes for Barbri to grade submitted essays? Just submitted the first one today. Thanks!

Re: Barbri paced program question?
It was a few days for me. I think I submitted mine on a Wednesday afternoon and received the feedback on Tuesday morning. I actually did well on it, granted that I just copied word for word the rules from the lecture handout, but was a little disappointed with the lack of feedback ( it just stated that I should arrive at the correct conclusion).FutureInLaw wrote:Any idea how long it takes for Barbri to grade submitted essays? Anyway, does anyone know about these lecture review questions in the back of the MPQ book? Should we be doing these after lecture?

Re: Barbri paced program question?
I think this is the only way. I noticed today though that the questions themselves tell you what set/number it is (which helps since I was stupidly cross-checking the actual text of the Qs). Above the question, there's a header with a question ID number followed by the set # and question # in sqaure brackets, e.g., [set03q10] or something similarph14 wrote:How do you input them into study smart? Is there anyway besides actually retaking and reanswering?

If we are meeting or beating out the averages in the MPQ book can we assume we are good? It really sucks to miss so many questions, but I guess based on the averages in the MPQ book that's just the way this goes.

That's my take, and is certainly reminiscent of the MPRE.MoneyMay wrote:If we are meeting or beating out the averages in the MPQ book can we assume we are good? It really sucks to miss so many questions, but I guess based on the averages in the MPQ book that's just the way this goes.
For those of you still following the PP as far as reading the CMR before the lectures, have you found that the CMR generally goes in the same order as the lectures? Like, Real Property is 3 days long, so I'm hoping if I read 1/3 of the CMR each day (in order) before lecture, it will be the right 1/3 for the material that is covered that day. That's worked out pretty well so far, but just wondering because it would be annoying otherwise...

Also, I am always 1-2 days behind... I can't fucking do EVERYTHING they tell us to do comprehensively without falling behind. Anyone else in this situation?

Re: Barbri paced program question?
I've resorted to just letting things go, and not letting the program control me. I've only done 50% of the stuff so far, and I could care less. I make it up by working more efficiently though. Instead of reading the CMR, I outline. Instead of doing AMPs, I'll go over essays, etc. Doesn't mean I'm doing less work, but I'm not able to check off the stupid boxes.MoneyMay wrote:Also, I am always 1-2 days behind... People say they're doing everything so they can tell themselves "I did what I could and I could blame barbri if I don't pass." But let's say you did everything and didn't pass and then blamed barbri, what would that accomplish? You don't get a refund or anything. Just do what works best for you while using barbri's resources and their program as a guide. In the end, passing and failing is on you anyway, not some program.

Re: Barbri paced program question?
I've given up on trying to meet barbri's pace. It's impossible. It's got to be a matter of if you fail so they can say "oh did you do everything in the paced program?"MoneyMay wrote:Also, I am always 1-2 days behind... I've cut out pre-reading the CMR before lectures - I go back and read them later, but not before the lectures. I've given up on AMPs because I feel like they'd be much better utilized as a review, not a preview. When I did certain amps, I was just looking for keywords and clicking through so I could get them done. I don't really do the essays when they tell me to, only because they literally assign some essays the day of the lecture for certain topics, and I can't sit through a 4 hour secured transactions lecture and then expect to know enough to jump into the essay, even after looking at my notes.
I guess the point is we're supposed to be able to kind of bullshit our way through essays, but I find that when I can read an essay answer and know what its talking about, it's a lot more beneficial to me than going into it blindly.
Other than that, I at least try to keep up on the lecture pace. I spend most of the day filling in the blanks in my handout book and reading CMRs and sometimes the larger outlines, or doing practice MBE problems - that's it. Eventually I'm going to veer off of MBE stuff and start focusing on the essays harder.

Well dang. They got back to me 5 hours after the time it was due. Was not expecting that.AJS30 wrote:It was a few days for me. i don't read the CMR anymore, but i noticed that the Crim Law outline in CMR didn't match up with the order of the lecture.pkt63 wrote:That's my take, and is certainly reminiscent of the MPRE.MoneyMay wrote:If we are meeting or beating out the averages in the MPQ book can we assume we are good? The barbri video lectures are starting to get so insanely boring I'm starting to feel like I'm not getting anything out of them because I'm so bored during them

I'm way behind on the progress meter. Only 20%.MoneyMay wrote:Also, I am always 1-2 days behind... I can't fucking do EVERYTHING they tell us to do comprehensively without falling behind. Anyone else in this situation?
I've completely cut out AMP because its a waste of my time, and I rarely look at CMR. I've done all MPQ, studysmart and essay's/outlining though. I spend most of my time retyping my notes, quizzing myself using flashcards and then doing practice questions and even then I find I don't have enough time. No time for AMP or studysmart.

Which practice questions are you doing? Only the StudySmart ones? I wish they gave us more to practice with, because that is what helps me learn, not AMP/ reading a 184 page outline, etc.ap1987 wrote:I'm way behind on the progress meter. I stopped AMP, stopped the CMR, and I watch the videos at at least 1.25x speed so I can just get through the things. And for essays, doing them one at a time is useless for me. I need to do like 5 at a time so I can see the patterns so I am really beginning to go away from the paced program.

What are you basing your notes off of if you don't read the CMR? Are you reading the full Multistate outline, or parsing lectures down?ap1987 wrote:I'm way behind on the progress meter. Re: Barbri paced program question?
I do the studysmart ones, the mpq ones and then multiple choice questions from these books I downloaded called "Flemings Multi-State." I also ordered another MBE book which has a bunch of questions.MoneyMay wrote:Which practice questions are you doing? Only the StudySmart ones? The problem I'm having with essays is not knowing the law for subjects like commercial paper and secured transactions. Looking at the model essay answers has helped me figure out the best way to study that material though.

Re: Barbri paced program question?
I parse the lectures down, taking out most of the hypos. I was told by a teacher of mine who worked for barbri for 20+ years not to add any info from the CMR or the big outline to my "notes." Retyping my lecture notes has helped me retain a lot so I'm going to keep doing it.At the Drive-In wrote:What are you basing your notes off of if you don't read the CMR? I have no idea if I'm doing anything right though lol because I haven't passed the bar yet. I feel like a 1L again.

Re: Barbri paced program question?
For MBE questions do most people read the call of the question first? I haven't been doing this since I know what subject I'm working on, but feel that I should try and get into this habit for test day.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
