Congrats. Why are you transfering from NW to UVA?

No, Munger does not recruit at UVA. I don't even know if they hire from UVA, I knew people with stellar credentials who sent them letters and got straight rejections.

To be honest, I entered law school straight from college (Duke). NU is just not a great fit for me. It has a very corporate-like, unfriendly atmosphere and my section was pretty cut-throat. I'm looking for a more collegial law school experience.

(1) If you want community, look for any place on Arlington or Ivy Gardens. There are other options, but those two will leave you walking distance from the law school. A lot of 2Ls live further away or in private houses/apartments, but those are good calls for an out-of-town search.

(2) All of the cool kids do the libel show. All of them.

(3) In general it's not hard at all to meet people. We're a friendly lot, and we're pretty big fans of drinking.

OMM comes to OGI. MTO doesn't come to OGI but will offer interviews if you email them resume, transcript and cover letter in early August.

They also interview through the Bay Area diversity fair if you register through that.

The only California OMM office who came last year was Century City.

I wouldn't worry about Munger. No one who has the offer to work for Munger as an SA should accept it. They never give offers to their entire SA class.

That does not, however, mean that everyone who does libel show is cool. I hear this year's producer is a huge gunner.

Apparently there was like an 8 hour meeting that ran late into the night to figure out who was on the board or whatever their leadership council is called. I can see how that breeds gunnerness

The meeting went 8 hours because 90% of the time was spent drinking and interrupting with jokes. The other 10% was a split between personal attacks and legitimate commentary.

Pitiful. But thanks! I LOVE my UVA regardless though. There's still external scholarships I guess :|

Might be a dumb question. How many hours do people usually take their 2L fall?

Would 4 classes and a clinic be too much?

(Oh, and I've decided not to do OGI, so I won't have tons of callbacks to worry about in the fall.)

I'm a lazy som'bitch, so I took "12" that was more like 11 due to a year long thing. That was pretty cool.

Depending on how hectic your fall recruiting schedule is and how many ECs you plan to do (Journals, moot court, clinic stuff, writing, PILA, libel, softball, etc.) 2L year can be absolutely crazy. On the other hand, you need as many credits as you need to graduate, and putting it off could also suck...

Quinn Curtis is teaching corps this semester but I haven't heard much about him. Can anyone enlighten me? PMs welcome.

Also all the seminars in ethical values are listed as being on libertarianism, every professor. Can someone say more about this? Are they all the same topic led by different profs?

I'm still waiting for an opportunity to shove some 1Ls into lockers and go make out with cheerleaders under the bleachers. Didn't happen 2L year, so I assume that's what 3L year is all about.

In my experience... never take new teachers... they are experimenting with their teaching method. So it might be frustrating.

I'm considering going:

Sec Reg (Mahoney draw, though I guess that means that a lot of ambitious people will be jumping on this.)
Law and Game Theory (hopefully an easy class for me given strong prior knowledge of game theory)
Admin (why are we meeting so often for a 3 credit class? Am I going to regret this?)
law firm as a business Org (probably something I'd be thinking about a lot as the semester went on - it'd be nice to do it formally too, but the paper requirement gives me pause).

considering trading out the last two classes for Bankruptcy + Secured Transactions (heard they paired up well together), or Evidence + Remedies (figure I should get them out of the way). Anyone have any suggestions/insight?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
