Re: UVA 2L taking questions
In you guys' experience, how closely do midterm grades correlate with grades on the final?

Eh, depends on a lot of different factors - which professor, whether they're grading it for real or just doing a light grading, whether you took it seriously, and how you use your experience in taking it.berkeleykel06 wrote:In you guys' experience, how closely do midterm grades correlate with grades on the final?

Gilbert's relatively new, but he has good reviews and I asked my PA about him. Brown's cool, not the liveliest guy, but he's pretty clear and very approachable.vamedic03 wrote:I don't know anything about Gilbert, but I loved D. Re: UVA 2L taking questions
There's not a lot of correlation, from what I've seen. Some people are either naturally good or naturally bad at exams, others will only figure out how to take an exam properly after the midterm, and some people will get lucky on the midterm and do worse on finals. Personally, I ended up doing a lot better on my finals than my midterm exams.berkeleykel06 wrote:In you guys' experience, how closely do midterm grades correlate with grades on the final?

Gilbert and Brown are both good professors. Gilbert's a lot more entertaining, but they're both very clear, friendly, approachable, etc.flyingpanda wrote:I'm now enrolled in vice and regulation of political process. Any thoughts?

How did OGI go for people aiming for Texas? Anyone have a general sense of the success in obtaining SA positions in Dallas and Houston? What do you guys think the best cities to shoot for are other than NY out of UVA? Already assuming DC isn't going to be on that list due to its competitiveness.

If you have ties to texas, it's probably not too bad. After DC/NY, ties get important.sherpaorlawschool wrote:How did OGI go for people aiming for Texas? Question: I was thinking of trying to get out to Charlottesville sometime during my winter break. What day do Spring classes begin?

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
also, the winter classes start the 7th of january, but winter courses may not be the best representative of what uva's classes are like. if you can't make it up before the 24th though, it's probably better than nothing. you will at the very least get to interact with some uva students and professors.

Yale has pretty good reviews though I think that Yin has the best reviews for tax. From what I understand, they're the only two profs you should take tax with.BruceWayne wrote:Fed income tax with Yale second semester: good idea or bad idea?
1) What else are you taking?
2) Anything else you're looking at taking? - i.e., is there some other class in particular that you're looking at?

I was just looking at the website for the Jeffersonian and it says they offer furnished apartments, but didn't specify beyond that. Can anyone shine a light on what's included?

Thanks for that. Are you satisfied with all that? Anything you wish was different (i.e. mattress sucks)? Worth the extra money each month, or would you recommend getting an unfurnished one and hitting craigslist?YCrevolution wrote:My one bedroom with den (furnished):joemoviebuff wrote:I was just looking at the website for the Jeffersonian and it says they offer furnished apartments, but didn't specify beyond that. Re: UVA 2L taking questions
I saw on here that you list two alternative journals when you enter the write on competition for LR. Are all the secondary journals just write on? How does this work, how difficult is to to get on a secondary journal? Any journals more/less difficult to write onto?
Also... any suggestions for places with good bar food/BBQ etc? I know there's a buffalo wild wings near by but are there any "home-town" places that students prefer?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
