Two qs:

1. How hard is it to get hockey season tix for a law student/is it a bad idea for 1l to do so?

2. Are most leases in Ithaca joint (i.e. all the roommates sign the same lease) or individual (i.e. each roommate gets their own separate agreement)? Asking for liability purposes...

1. dear god don't do this unless you are (a) obsessed with hockey and (b) dead-set on going to the Harvard game. It's easy to get tickets for every other game games, and the season tickets include games that you won't be on campus for. the way the schedule works is that usually there will be two home games or 0 home games in a weekend, and most people don't want to go two nights in a row.

2. I don't know what most are, but mine were joint.

I grew up rooting for Harvard (family members are alums/former Harvard Hockey season ticketholders) and I'm just coming around to rooting for Cornell. I guess I just have to hope the away Harvard game is during a break so I can watch the Big Red win then...or just cave and buy season tix.

1. How late is too late to find a decent apartment near the law school for a reasonable price?
2. What do most leases generally require? First and last month only? First month/last month/security deposit? Only a deposit?
3. Do most people bring/buy furniture, or do they opt to rent places fully furnished?

1. define 'reasonable'. 1k range prob no deadline, since i think the collegetown apartments (in collegetown itself) don't really sell out til late summer. others may be a scramble, but the cheaper ones are usually private sellers so they pop up sporadically through the summer from what i remember.

2. mine was first/last/security/garbage fee/parking

3. depends on local. i think a lot of people buy furniture from what experience at walmart in august.

I only got season tickets for 3L and as far as I can remember its pretty easy. It also seemed like random tickets were pretty easy to come by as well. I would have like to have had season tickets all three years and I'm not even into hockey, it was fun and cheap.

In order to maintain my scholarship, I need to stay in "good academic standing". I've tried searching on the Cornell law website, but I can't seem to find anything that defines good academic standing. Can anyone tell me what the law school's standards are for this and if they know of anyone that has lost their scholarship based on this stipulation? Thank you!!

Can you pay Cornell tuition with a credit card? I assume/hope you can, because I made my deposits with one, and I'm hoping to use my 0% APR card for points/managing my savings.

I have a scholarship for about 80% of tuition and I have a lot of money saved up from a few years as a paralegal in BigLaw. Right now, I think I'll need loans for the second semester of 2L and all of 3L (unless I get a market paying SA position in my home market). I'd like to conserve my savings as long as possible to minimize the loans I'll need to take out.

Yes, which is why I said he can call to confirm what I thought - they could make an exception or have a mechanism for processing CC payments - although I *think* they do not.

Paying Your E-Bill
You can pay online, by mail, or in person. Checks or money orders must be in United States dollars drawn on a United States bank and made payable to Cornell University. Postdated checks and credit cards are not accepted.

Makes sense to me. They'd be on the hook for swipe [convenience] fees to offset the rewards earned. Your deposit total is <$1,000 so they can live with the 2-3% lost there but on tuition: no.

Take evidence with colb. Even if you want transactional. Four credit course, doesn't cold call, and only covers material covered in barbri. Her test is 35 question mc and it literally takes a half hour.
