CPA License
For an aspiring Corporate/Transaction Attorney (NOT TAX), would having the CPA License be beneficial or would it make people think you're a tax attorney? Assume that the person is already working in accounting and is CPA eligible - the only factor is time/upkeep of the license.

You haven't taken the exam? If not, I wouldn't bother. The work experience will be good enough for most employers.corporatemandaorbust wrote:For an aspiring Corporate/Transaction Attorney (NOT TAX), would having the CPA License be beneficial or would it make people think you're a tax attorney? ETA: It looks like you already have an MBA? If so, don't go to law school.

I'd rather be a lawyer than an auditor...dabigchina wrote:You haven't taken the exam? If not, I wouldn't bother. You are an auditor with a semi-elite MBA? My condolences. Can you wrangle up a transfer into advisory or consulting?corporatemandaorbust wrote:I'd rather be a lawyer than an auditor...dabigchina wrote:You haven't taken the exam? If not, I wouldn't bother. Career advice aside, I maintain you don't need the CPA. It won't hurt but it'll be a gigantic waste of time to study for it.

I personally believe my personality may be better suited for law and I'm pretty risk-aversedabigchina wrote:You are an auditor with a semi-elite MBA? My condolences. Re: CPA License
Can anyone else speak to the merits of the CPA as a practicing Corporate M&A attorney?
