Prerequisite For Tax LLM?

Post by Pomeranian » Wed Jun 01, 2016 6:45 pm

Are there any law school prerequisites course-wise for applying for a tax LLM programs? Would the Income and corporate tax courses be enough? Also, the school I am considering attending this fall does not seem to offer a course on Partnerships Taxation? Is this bad?

Check the website for the respective programs, but they usually just require intro to tax.

Re: partnership tax. Are you talking about a JD program or LLM program? If the former, not a huge deal. A lot of law schools just roll partnership tax into other business tax classes. You will be taking partnership tax in the LLM program either way. If an LLM program doesn't have a partnership tax class, something is very wrong or they are calling it something else (i.e. taxation of pass through entities).
