Class President

Post by engineer2law » Wed Jun 01, 2016 1:42 pm

Hello,

In your opinion, is being the president of you law school class a respected accomplishment? Do employers give it much consideration? What are typical responsibilities of the class president?

Thanks,

absolutely zero employers will view it positively. in fact, putting it on your resume would be to your detriment because it's taking up valuable real estate of where your actual accomplishments should go.

student government plans bar review, barristers, and softball and are essentially law school social chairs. it doesn't even fit into gunnering.

edit to add: actually being president is neither here nor there. i'm just speaking on its effect on employment.

Dude at my school got paid a not insignificant amount of money to do it, check if your school's SBA or whatever give a stipend for officer positions. I have no idea if employers care about it but if you are getting a couple grand it seems like a good deal.
