I am not saying it is easy to be top 5-10% in any law school. But I am just wondering which of these schools would it be the easiest the get the highest GPA, particularly Cornell, Northwestern and U Cal Berkeley

If you truly believe this a question that can be answered, you aren't going to be capable of hitting top 5-10% at any of these schools.

What? You didn't answer my question.LawMan9000 wrote:You directed to this thread
Let me rephrase my question- How would anyone in the ENTIRE WORLD POSSIBLY know which one of these schools, currently, would be the easiest to be in the top 5-10%?

Right now we are split between Michigan, GTOWN, Cornell, and NYU. Really excited to see how this plays out when we get some more votes in here.

The odds of achieving Top 5-10% at each of these schools is going to be 5-10% each.
Seriously, though, this is a ridiculous question. You're essentially asking us to attempt to compare the student bodies of a variety of T14 schools (and UCLA), all of which are going to boast intelligent students. Further, a substantial portion of the students at the lower T14s likely got into T6 or T10 schools but received more $$$ to go to a lower ranked T14. Accordingly, it seems like it would be about as difficult at each to get 5-10%.
To the extent there is even an answer to this question nobody will really be able to give you an answer because (i) nobody has gone through 1L at more than one of these schools; and (ii) achieving grades that high can sometimes come down to how well you click with a professor. On (ii), I am not saying that grading is random, or that the Top 5-10% don't deserve it. They clearly do. What I am saying is that the difference between a Top 10% student and a Top 15% student can sometimes come down to the Top 10% student having a professor that taught in a way that worked better for their learning style.

Nah Gtown's class size is too big, too many wild cards. I'd guess the one next to it, Cornell or UCLA.

I don't usually post things on TLS. But seriously though, this question is dumb enough to make me log-in and reiterate how stupid the question is.

I'd imagine you could spend your entire time at Akron on the lazy river reading dem notes. Wake up, brush your teeth, make sure your laptops charged, and head down to the river just chegging your classes and e-mailing everyone for the notes. I'm tempted to apply, borrow a bunch of money, and literally spend my days floating down dat river not giving a single fuck.raven1231 wrote:About how many lazy river hours would you say one could commit to and still be in the top 5-10%?asdfdfdfadfas wrote:Akron takes the cake. When it comes time to pay it back I'll just go live off the land in the PNW and let the US government come try to find me.

Or Harvard? I mean, its class sizes are more than twice those of Yale or Stanford, which means that more than twice as many people are going to be top 10%, more than doubling your odds of making it. Plus it's filled with people who are BOTH too dumb to get into Yale or Stanford AND too dumb to take a T14 scholly, so your competition is weak. Put my vote down for H.doublehoohopeful wrote:Why isn't Yale an option?

No proof of this, but people at my school are definitely more laid back than people at other schools mentioned on this list. There is probably a correlation between certain personality traits and gpa, and there's also probably a correlation between certain personality traits and selecting school a vs. b.
How does a bigger class size double odds? Has to be a joke.

I agree that personality traits probably play a role, but I really think people here are discounting the effects of class size. I mean, just think about it:HonestAdvice wrote:No proof of this, but people at my school are definitely more laid back than people at other schools mentioned on this list. With a class of 200, only 20 people will be top 10%. With a class of 600, 60 people will be in the top 10%. Gunning for 1 of 60 spots is much more likely to lead to success than gunning for 1 of 20, same reason it's easier to get a COA clerkship than SCOTUS.
