What field of law do you wish you chose?

Post by HarrisonBergeron » Fri Apr 22, 2016 11:07 pm

If possible give a reason. I assume to some degree the grass is always greener. But I'd like to see your opinions.

Bonus: what field of law is the most bang for buck in terms of highest job satisfaction to money ratio, in your opinion?

This isn't really a thing, except maybe as a DOJ or fed agency in your favorite subject area.

How can anyone truly respond to this? It's hard to tell what a field entails until you're doing it.

I mean, people answer questions on schools they havent been to and firms they never worked for all the time. Lets not pretend were above speculation.

IN THAT CASE!

I wish I had gone into entertainment law so I could just go to movie premieres and award shows for a living.

I've spoken to a number of ADAs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens) who really like their jobs. The pay sucks, but when you factor in LRAP, they do okay.

I worked at a consulting firm that did turnaround management prior to law school and really enjoyed BK, so I did a judicial externship for an SDNY BK judge and still really enjoyed BK

that being said, I'm in-house, and I like being in-house. if BK had worked out then I'd be at some firm and my feelings towards BK might change dramatically

also agree with above poster regarding ADAs. my ADA friends (2-5 years in) all really enjoy their jobs and with lrap they're doing fine financially

Only if you get off on the process of a trial. I personally found it exhausting to be in court a lot and having to prepare for it. I ran away from criminal law as soon as I found out what I was really signing up for.
