BigLaw private office?

Post by Sparkymilarky » Tue Jan 26, 2016 3:36 am

I'm so curious about the work space of big lawyers.

I'm hoping to get Chicago biglaw and want a rough idea of what to expect, cubicals? Shared desk? Private room with a fine walnut table?

Please share your experiences! Pics would be great too

Thank you,

Moved to appropriate forum. Reminder that legal employment is not for 0Ls.

Thank you,
This is market, firm, and decade specific.

Most non-NY firms have private, but modern, window offices for each lawyer with L-shaped (or bigger) desks. Some are more modern, with a lot of glass, others are more traditional. For the most part lawyers need quiet , privacy, and a lot of desk space. Partners (and some senior lawyers) might also have a table, a couch, etc. for holding meetings.

NyC has shared offices for first years, and some firms (good ones, to) have tried to adopt open layouts to emulate banks, while other ones are still stodgy and walnut lined.
