Not really.

But if I were you I'd stop making neurotic threads about starting 1L and go make friends with your sectionmates.

I think some of the basic underpinings of law like "duty" and "estoppel" make for interesting propositions especially when considered in the context of the fact that we're basing our entire system of law upon it but for the most part (like 90%) "Law" is just learning a formalized set of rules with a specific set of jargon for concepts that you're either already familiar with, or intuitively grasp.

Doesn't mean you should raise your hand in class, or even give any outward signal that you're intellectually stimulated. Some stuff might be mildly interesting but it's certainly not to the degree of being AROUSINGLY so.

Oh yeah. Don't be the guy who talks about it. But there's lots to think about.

Sometimes in class or doing reading I thought it might be for like 90 seconds, and then someone ruined it.

I was always engaged in Contracts, and almost always in Crim. I gave no fucks about Torts and kinda just stopped going. Similar patterns of engaged in some classes and not others rest of 1L year.

A lot depends on the professor, and how its taught, and if you're interested in that stuff. When we talked about Property cases with casinos, I was interested. When we discussed the baseball rule in Torts, I was interested. When we talked about slip and falls, I zoned out.

Sometimes it will be interesting, other times it will be boring. Enjoy the interesting parts whenever you can.

Intrigued as to what this baseball rule in Torts is all about.

Color me stimulated.

I found contracts, torts & property interesting, but hated con law I, criminal law & civ pro. 2L & 3L classes are way more interesting, just muscle your way through 1L whether you find it riveting or not.

I found contracts to be somewhat interesting. The rest I couldn't care for whatsoever.

Yeah I think contracts is quite interesting. Civ pro is ok, sometimes it's pretty cool. I nod off in property. Couldn't care less about estates.

Not really. I thought political science was more interesting.

Property is fine, but I agree with the sentiment about estates. Crim ought to be cool, but most of it is spent on the mental aspect so its dull. Civ pro is the equivalent of watching paint dry. Very much looking forward to 2L, when I can take classes in things I'm interested in.
