textbook editions

How much difference is there between one edition and the next. I need contracts by farnsworth 8th, if i get the 7th edition will i be okay?

For a casebook, very little difference, but the changes in page numbers and/or content will make it a challenge to make sure you're doing the right reading. As annoying as the casebook racket is, it's probably worth getting exactly what is assigned.

For supplements, older editions are generally fine for most 1L courses. It's not like the law of torts has changed much since the invention of the train.

I generally recommend buying the correct edition for 1L. After 1L, you can get by with the previous edition.
