Did you bring in your Laptop the first day of class?
It seems like it isn't nwcessary, as it is the first day. However, I'm looking into experience from my high school and undergrad days, where on the first day class work is minimal. Law school maybe different, we may jump into it quickly. I know one person taking a summer class had work due on the first day, which isn't odd, but I'm just wondering if I would need to have my whole arsenal loaded up for class on the first day.

I need a new laptop sleeve. I haven't had the chance to purchase one. So I just have my messenger laptop case. I was a little paranoid about carrying it on the train without extra cushion.
So now you know the method behind my question.

Yes, you'll likely need it. You typically have first day reading assignments and law professors aren't like undergrad professors. They TYPICALLY don't just have syllabus day and then let you go early.(typically being the keyword) Most will actually go over the first day assignment (i.e. start lecturing).

Your professor will definitely be lecturing on testable material on day one.

You will need it the first day. There will most likely be a 10-15 minute overview at the start or end of class about the syllabus, but that's about all.
You will have had a reading assignment posted/given to you during orientation that concerns the first class periods (I had classes during orientation with assignments). You will need to take notes. There will be cold-calling.
In short, be prepared.

Why don't you just buy one in the 2 months you have?

Whatever notes you take on your first day are going to end up being absolutely worthless so maybe it's better to call it like it is and not bring it.
