Hi,
I am from India and have a LLB degree in Law from one of the top 5 national law schools in India. I was ranked 6th in a class of 100 and now work in one of the largest law-firms in India. I have a gpa of 3.3 (coverted from a 7 point scale) and an LSAT score of 157. What are my chances of getting into Northwestern 2 year J.D. for international students? Also what are my chances of getting into other lawschools in a regular 3 year JD course?
Thanks

If you're a top flight attorney in India, why would you want to pay to go back to school to enter our hellscape of a legal market in the United States
Run as fast as you can away from this idea.
I highly doubt anything you could find here with your background would be superior to your current practice. What's the allure of coming to the US to practice law? The salary of attys at large firms here? That might seem like a lot of money at face value but even if you made it to those firms after New York CPI adjustment you'd regret it. Regardless, your chances of making it to one of those firms and the prohibitive costs associated with such an endeavor make it an incredibly lousy bargain/life choice ex ante

I would be very wary unless your resume is extremely extremely strong, you have a demonstrated interests in working the US and have great written and spoken English.
From what I understand, in the 2-year foreign JD program, you do OCI prior to the start of classes (with no grades forthcoming unlike the AJD students). Since you're treated as a 2L at that point, if you can't get a summer position during that season you are going to be damaged goods from that point forward because 3L hiring is basically a joke.
This is from the perspective that you are looking to work in the US. If you are just trying to cop a degree, your firm is willing to pay for you and take you back afterwards- go for it. Chicago is definitely a cool place to spend 2 years.

Hi Ena,
Did you apply to Northwestern 2 year J.D. for international students? I'm thinking to apply to.

Another option is to get your LLM from an ABA school. However, this would limit where you could practice. FYI, the last response was posted in November 11, 2014, so the original poster is most likely not going to respond.
