Becoming a transactional lawyer

Post by The deal coach » Sun Sep 28, 2014 5:45 pm

If you are interested in becoming a transactional lawyer and have questions about what law schools to go to, what classes to take, what law firms to target, and what else you should be doing, I will do my best to answer them.

This is made even funnier when read in Bob Belcher's voice.

I was a partner in a Biglaw firm for 14 years, I have written a book on contract drafting that has sold 30,000 copies and I am an adjunct professor at a top 15 law school and a top 30 law school. And I spend my professional life now teaching transactional skills to lawyers.

What is life like up in South Bend? You find your students to be cutthroat?

I get that that's a lot of identifying information and it's not hard to figure out who the OP is, but they're a poster here like anyone else and outing is not allowed. If the OP wants to link to their linkedin that's golden but don't do that.

Edit: unless of course there's a joke I'm missing. But otherwise definitely do not do that.

I'll bite. What electives should every transactional lawyer take? Here's my current list:

Corporations
Bankruptcy
Federal Income Tax
Payment Systems
Accounting / Financial Statements Intro

Really. I know where you went wrong and the person you ID'd is close, but that's not him.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
